Don't be stupid.
They should have done it wearing top hats, on tall bikes. With a mandatory checkpoint every lap where they had to drink a bottle of absinthe.
Ha!
I liked the video. Morvelo rider (Oli?) showing some road/track class. Stay at the front, stay out of trouble.

It should of course be "couriers' race".
Not if entire ownership of the race had fallen to an individual who happened to have a distinguished career in parcel delivery.

it's like in a roadbike race. if you're riding in the middle or at the end, you will always be in trouble or part of each crash. when i remind myself about my last trouble at an indoor velodrome, i can't really understand the "hype" to ride brakeless with unknown and untalented riders.

Pointless London commuting?

It can be sketchy racing on a track with experienced riders. Never mind with inexperienced skidders on a road circuit.
But, everyone looked like they had fun.

Well the riders seemed to enjoy it, so all's well that ends well!

Greetings folks,
Well what a lovely day...
I hooked up with the Tokyo Fixed lot outside their shop and had a great ride out to Hillingdon. It was funny I was I think the only one with a brake on my bike and certainly the only one rocking a high vis vest...! But inspite of that, they let me come along which was great. On the run in to the circuit I met a couple who had come down from Leeds especially for this, the girl of which entered the first heat, so big respect to them and all others for making the journey...
I had a nice time just sitting on a bench on the main finishing straight and watching all the people whizzing around the circuit. I stayed for the first heat, then was feeling the cold rather, so decided to go back in to town and just get some miles under my belt. I met a few people in tweed coming back from their ride, so was thinking what a great day to be on a bike and what a great day for cycling in London.
41 miles done for the day and having been out in that weather since 10 am, I felt tired and weather beaten but happy as I reached home.
Great work to all the organisers. Hillingdon circuit is a lovely little gem, tucked behind Southall's main shopping area.
Thanks again for letting me tag along on the ride out there.
Peace and love to one and all,
Tim -

JAH Tim you have a white bike with red green and yellow forks?

Now you're talking. I'm competitive, but also quite [strike]sane[/strike] mature and don't see the reason I should race a brakeless bike without any training whatsoever only because I wear a Campagnolo hat at a jaunty angle.

I can be that lapped guy in your team who pushes others off their bikes.

The only thing left now is to establish some sort of pre-season absinthe training procedure.

I started the warm up in Poland on Saturday. I no longer have a liver to damage.

No wonder there were crashes if people were pulling moves like the guy who swerves at 3:17-3:20.
It looks like he knows he riding solo as he cruises over the line rather than sprint finishing. I think the lack of concentration of the guy coming in hot for a strong finish just as we here the screams of 'loook oooout" is more telling!

Ha I thought those were the screams of the riders aimed at the cameraman

Great day - apart from the crashes! My first ever taste of 'racing' and managed to get through to the final race. Managed to lose the main pack in the second race and found no way to catch up on my own with the terrible wind up the back straight. I still did the distance though!
I usually ride with a front brake but to be honest this was totally fine. There were no corners where speed needed to be significantly dropped at all. The only issue was people not riding with proper etiquette. I witnessed two people doing skids, a crash and numerous people taking a racing line (in the pack) whilst I was riding in the races. A lot of people just didn't have any awareness of the riders around them. I'm lucky to have not crashed myself as I had to actually swerve off onto the grass to avoid colliding with the riders going down in front of me during the crash.
It was nice meeting everyone and I would ride this again!
I believe the dude at 3:17-3:20 in the video knows what he's doing.

For unicorn jerseys come to vienna, ride with us or send us a massage on fb or meet us in milano for rhc http://rideunicorn.tumblr.com/ the posted ones are sold out, new design will be different.
The Hunt was a race, so accidents can happen - if you are not used to ride without brakes or to ride high speed on fixed it is probably not the best to enter such an event.I'm a friend of Nora, I came and did a check point for one of your Milan races once.

Here's a video from a helmet cam of the first crash. Not sure if the link will work as it's directly from Facebook.

i heard from the guys from athens that many riders had no experience racing and during the race they didn't hold their lines through turns causing lot of crashes..
