Problem with brakless is that it has a huge amount to do with anticipation. Out in the dark in a group of riders you lose a lot of that awareness that you would normally use to avoid danger.
Plus, badgers fucking hate brakeless riders

That's because they're controlled by the owls.

Bats retain independent thought, but *still *hate brakless.

If Mr Toad had stolen a brakless Fixxxeh instead of a motorcar, Wind in the Willows would have been a very different novel
-
• #231
Why? He still would've crashed all the time.

It would have been a precursor to the tweed run

Right, thanks for the clarification. I hadn't consider the visibility issue. Panasonic will stay at home then until I start using the brake. Which will probably be never, I'm not sure I really trust clamp on brakes. I reckon I'll be building up a new bike soon. I'm starting to get that itch again.
Gears it is. But I won't be bombing it downhill or owt like that.

Usual meet spot at the Peaslake turn-off on the top of Pitch Hill. Bmmf will lead the 2nd group - they'll probably catch the the gp 1 stragglers (me) before the meet. Sam & Donna - your call on what group to join.
Going to make a call later on the wait list; would love to get everyone on, but wary about running into train issues. Bedwetting is clearly so 2011, but if you've got to drop-out, appreciated if you can update the list asap.

I'll meet the 2nd train at Effingham. Gives me slightly longer to get in from work and get straight out again. Well, as long as work doesn't fuck me over.
-
• #245
only half as many posts re-inaugral ride as last year...
-
• #246
I could join the first train in wimbledon if that means we could get an extra person on? Restrictions still apply there so the first train is still the earliest I could get.
-
• #247
^ aye apart from you'll be needing a full price ticket or some barrier-dodging tactics.
-
• #248
Ticket isn't a prob - I'll be riding home anyway so will only need single (about £6 I think so nearly the same as having gone GS4 with everybody else).
It does mean we'd be 11 on the train. If that's cool then I'll ammend the list.

• #249
Cheers upstart, very helpful - can't see a train problem by the time we get to Wimbledon

Once my legs have toughened up a bit(have barely ridden beyond commuting miles over the winter) i'll be all over these rides hopefully.
I would imagine when riding in a group it'd be fucking rude to be brakless, would hate to have someone broadslide into me cos they can't stop in time..
*not in reference to photoben, he has mad skillz and the calves of Hermes, or so I've been told; so could probably stop quicker than me on fixed with 2 brakes.
