its tooo windy, went for a lil ride to take work into college and was being pushed around, couldnt even open my eyes there was crap from building site blowing everywere.

As we were atlking about that Umbro grant for sorting out the Whitworth surface. there is also these grants from Sports England that *m.f linked too: http://www.sportengland.org/funding/small_grants.aspx

Doesn't look like it is for sport that much though, what did Jake say Ste? maybe we could apply for the funding to sort the court to help us put ona competition, rather than just for general practice

there's a kellogs one too..infact there are loads of sports grants, it's getting permission from the park that is the bit i've been having problems with and one can't apply for funding without it.

i'm still at work for a wee while - might try and come via the court if i can leave at a reasonable time...

for everyone who wasnt there today, to answer all this talk of reshuffling teams fairly, it was suggested that everyone writes down their ideal teams skillwise, puts them in a hat anonymously and then use those as more of a basis for getting the best teams we can.....thoughts???

I'm with that idea. Though would it just be the team you want to be in, or teams you think'd be good as well?

I know about reshuffling, and think it's good to get it all out in the open, but what is your suggestion Ben?

well im a bit unsure but it seemed (and im not alone in this from the conversations iv had with various people in the last couple of days) that the teams entered in the tourney arent the best combinations that we could have had and that has hindered MCR's progression as much as the lack of competitive practice. Now Woody and MrKawasaki have both started threads detailing how we can get more competitive play, but it seems like we need a reshuffle of teams and its best to get it into the open before people think that anyone is talking behind anyone elses back which they are not doing and all the feelgood atmosphere from the tourney around MCR polo disintegrates.

SO...in order to limit people getting upset etc we were thinking about the anonymous list thing cause it seems that alot of people might have the same ideas about who plays well with who and who doesnt. From those lists we may have a more neutral basis for resetting the teams than x wanting to play with y and z when others also want to play with them....

or is that too convoluted?

the idea was that everyone writes down the combinations of MCR players that they think would function best as teams on pieces of paper, puts them in a hat and then we look at them all and use those as a guide for getting some good teams going...any other suggestions?we could just sit down a work it out in the pub or at polo if people promise not to get offended.....

How could it be anonymous? Someone is going to need to read the opinions. Anyways this would really complicate deciding which 2 teams go to Geneva since that needs to be decided by next Friday

the anonymous bit would be that people dont know which piece of paper was written by who, allowing people to give frank opinions that they otherwise might not feel comfortable giving

I think netto need a shooter and asbo need a more defensive but that doesn't necessarily mean different players. I think both these teams feel as though they underperformed, I guess it's just a question of whether the teams feel like they can develop with the setup they have or if mixing rosters would be a better decision for the upcoming tournament season. Also I think Marek probably had the best performance of all the MCR players, with his mix team Gnarly Bones

1 there are more teams in Manchester than ASBO and Netto
2 the top two teams in Manchester according to Uk champs results are Netto and 2 Beer Rule and i know that Wayne doesnt want to play polo anymore leaving a space
3 Marek, who is recognised as one of the best players in MCR is teamless and deserves to be in a team with players of a similar standard
4 We want the best possible teams from MCR so that we can give London some real competition in these tourneys
5 various people have said that they want a reshuffle of players

I was just talking about netto and asbo because they are the teams I know best. All I really want to know is if
a) I will be playing polo in Manchester for the rest of my time here
b) if that will still be on a team with the same guys
c) if my travel plans to the euros will e changing
d) if I need to come to polo this week to figure this out
