Is anyone playing at Powerhouse Thursday? I'm getting my hair cut (against the inner-Samson's will) but should make it down by 8pm-ish, with my half-fucked MTB and working mallet.
Thurs

So I would like:
- Identity. (I'm making this number 1. because its going to help 2. which is the most important for me) Which should included website/forum/merch...
- At least double our numbers. Loads of ways of doing this flyers targeting 'riders' you can tell them a mile off if you know what to look for.
- Better polo for your level of ability e.g. team nights/top players only, training/bike, skills/fitness, newbies sessions.
- Better social scene e.g. spending time in the pub, workshops, film nights, interaction with other cycling groups and other polo cities like Cambridge and Bristol.
Think we need to go back to grass routes. Maybe lay off things like holding a tourney until we establish ourselves better, seems daft saying that considering we've been about for so long but just approach it like we're almost starting from scratch, get it back to the good old days.
Not sure what skills I can offer but i guess coaching/criticising would be one, I'm sure there's loads others too but I'll think, need to post this now or I'll never get it done... - Identity. Interesting thread. Out of interest, how many times a week and how many people do you have playing? We're (Birmingham) at twice a week and probably 4-10 people at each one. It's very rare we only have 4 though...
Our biggest problem is probably losing the old hands. Over the three years we've been going, we've lost several people we weren't really expecting to, and they were all week-in/week-out regulars. But then we get random influxes of 3-4 new people, all at once who are pretty much unknown. Like anywhere, we have probably 4-6 harcore people and then various ratios of drop-ins. Maybe we get complacent when we have that perfect 8-15 regular turnout and don't push it any further, and it just falls back through natural wasteage. It's hard to hustle for more players when you know it's going to mean less game time for yourself though.
I've almost come to the conclusion that we can only support a scene around our current size at any one time, but the constituent players are always changing. Having said that, my impression of Manchester was that there were plenty of other cycling groups to tap in to.
I think indoor winter courts are the way to get people into it.

Regarding the website, I have the blog style website pretty much ready to go, I was working on it in the week leading up to the meeting (think me talking about it was the main thing that kick started the meeting) was wondering if the chair members have a decision yet On the way were going
