  • Hi all,

Hey I am going to be back in Manchester from New Zealand for a few weeks due to a death in the family.

I am hoping to have time for some light relief from all the funeral/grief/sorting stuff and get out for a bit of polo on either a powerhouse night or Sunday morning in Chorlton.

I am also in the early stages of setting up a polo scene back here in Nelson NZ and it is for this reason I am posting. I am having trouble sourcing proper high density piping for mallets as we don't really do gas over here.

If anyone has any spare bits of pipe I would be very grateful. In fact even any bits that only have a bit of life left in them or where you fucked-up cutting the holes but they still might be a bit useful. I need enough for about 7 mallets ideally. But absolutely anything would be better than nothing. New Zealand is well supplied with battered old ski poles so no issues on that end.

If anyone does have any could you pass on to Neil (Neil, hope this is ok with you) and I can pick up in a week or so and hopefully have a whack too.

    Take care and thanks

    Steve

  • either a powerhouse night or Sunday morning in Chorlton.

We're at PH Thursday 7pm and Sunday 2pm nowadays, not sure what the status of the Saturday AM Chorlton newbie session is.

I'll be up for 2 heads if anyone finds some, whatever the 3mph heads are made of would be ideal. Want to have some spares ready for next year.

How's your supply of good balls? Voidcore and I are going to Cambridge in 2 weeks time so we could bring back a boxful for you.

  • Neil, just got to the powerhouse and there's no padlock on the gate... Not sure if there is any reason for this you know of? But it could cause problems for us if we turn up and find loads of kids playing football or whatever on the court on our night...

  • i'm gonna be there for 2

I'll report it on Monday morning - any sign of the lock or any damage that would indicate forced removal?

  • Finally got round to having a look at this potential court, could be very good for a tawny. The left court is about powerhouse length but wider, the court to the right is open, so would need boards building and has basketball nets that would need padding but is fine otherwise, you could potentially fit 2 smaller courts where the tennis courts are to the right if needed as well. The surface on the main court is nice, the other courts are plenty smooth enough, just look slightly more worn than the main one. Where the arrow is, is a nice little raised platform, might be good for filming from. Directly to the right of the tennis courts there is now a whole load of dirt jumps/BMX track, so looks like Levy council would be up for cycling based shenanigans. Also there is a small building just south that looks like it has toilets in it, nice green space and a kids play area nearby and a stone circle(?) Could be worth looking into.

  • Are we playing Thursday this week?
