i'm still working on the cutter. freewheel hasn't arrived from Charlie's Bikemonger yet. Just waiting for that.
I've got a question, which hasn't been a problem for me before, but just struck me today: what size tubes are you guys using? I've been using 700 x 20/28c before without notable problems. Got the size up today though, but the tyre doesn't really fit onto the rim around where the valve is now. Reckon I should just fit the 20-28c? I'm running 35c tyres

I'm running 1.5" - 1.75" tubes in 1.35" tyres. Punctures can fuck right off!

get bigger tubes.

except the higher risk of pinch flats and the tube/ tyre rubbing and causing flats.

but the tyres don't fit the rim now! there's something stuck to the inside of the tube, where the valve is put, to keep the valve in place (i think). it seems quite soft though, could just bend it, to make the tyre fit inside the rim wall
they're specialized tubes, not exactly amazing but not shit either

Only if you run them soft or don't pay attention putting the tyre on.
the tube/ tyre rubbing and causing flats.
I'll give you that one, but I don't think there'll be enough movement to rub trough anything at 60psi.

i had trouble squeezing a tube in around the valve on the fuji, kept wiggling it about and pumped it up/let it down a few times, is fine now i think, think the tube is a little big for the rim but fine for the tyre

also i have 20t freewheel, any good?

ordered new tubes now. got them in, but the valve is too short to reach through the rim. i bought an extender from evans, but it didn't work so they're getting that and their tubes returned tomorrow.
i'll be alright for the freewheel, gotta wait for the tubes anyways. not sure if it'll be ready for thursday, but the loaner is still with me so i'll definitely play (thanks Neil)

You run at 60psi? Waaaat?

Kojak 1.35s at 60psi. Feeling really fast since swapping from the old ones which were at 35-40psi (1.25 Geax front, 1.75 Nimbus rear). Cornering seems more predictable too.

I see, well the correct size tubes still needed anyhow, but this problem is probably becasue you need to push the valve out by a little bit, from the inside of the rim out towards the tyre, then mount the bead.

Could be interested. What's wrong with it? -
• #10214
nothing wrong, in fact it's loads better than the shimano one I've put on the new bike, just needed a different gear, it's a token one, was about £45ish new I think, it's light, sealed bearing, quick engaging and clicks like a mofo - 20 of your yorkshire pounds

OPPORTUNITY!!!
If anyone was curious about the Cambridge 24h tourney but hasn't organised anything, I can come to your rescue!
I have a space available in my car to travel down Friday night and return Sunday afternoon (I plan to have a few hours kip after the 24h ends). You won't have to share the driving and I think the route I've chosen is interesting enough that I won't need you to be awake for constant conversation. There are sofas and mattresses at the court so all you'll need is your polo stuff and a sleeping bag.
Return train tickets are now £80, you can be chauffeured to the Tourney for £45 or we can come to an arrangement involving food and beers if you want to save some cash.
This is a great opportunity to play on a quality court with and against some of the best players in the National Series.
Any of you who haven't been to a big tourney this year, this would be a great way to really raise your game if you're interested in going beyond local throw-ins next year.
