OK William I agree carrying everything with you sounds a better idea, I've not used my camelbak in years so god knows what kind of bacteria has evolved in that, legionairres disease at least but quite possibly something completely new to science.
I'm pretty skint but time rich so am tempted to start early and ride the whole way and just get the train back. I think William the CX whippet may be a bit fast for me on my full susser, so may join Velocio from Kew if he does'nt mind company for the first stretch. Otherwise hoping for some groupsave action on the way out.

William the CX whippet may be a bit fast for me on my full susser,
it's a genesis vapour frame, with a long haul trucker fork, lowriders, rear rack and 38mm armadillos. whippet? it's a tank.

Haha, fair enough, you must be the whippet aboard the tank then, 38 armadillos alone must weigh a ton.....entering Dammit mode..... just had a look, 575g each, not as bad as i thought actually. My 2.1 inch knobblies are 520g front and 470g rear each so you out-tank me there.
Hmmmm I think we've got this weight weenies thing the wrong way round, my bikes heavier than you bike nerner, ner, nerner.

^Ha!, liking the bike shed reference, well I'm sure if Mr Parkinson lugged my brick from London to Brighton off-road he would'nt think it trivial.

Poor form.I'm a newbie to this 'cross thing but i do have a skin suit , that is what i have to wear?
-
• #114
Correct, or white kit.
I you wear arm warmers, they should not fit so that the tops of your arms are exposed.Does this mean you will be racing this winter?
-
• #115
i dont haz skin suit or cycling shorts
-
• #116
Skin suit is only compulsory for fatties like Texas

There and back would be great, unfortunately if I go to sussex without visiting my Mum I get in trouble. It might be fun to turn up with a bunch of strangers in silly armwarmers.
Bluefleet- I could kick your ass in the heavy bike stakes simply by bringing my painting kit and one man tent. Or is that cheating?

it is looking like i may have to pull out, finding a cheap but good enough frame is proving difficult :(
-

you can borrow my '93 Palisades Trail

Nice frame. It's in chichester, only about 20 miles from brighton- buy it, then ride along there and pick it up. Simple :)
