That £64 is looking like a better and better investment

Hurry up.

i know i know, wheel problems will hold me up a bit as i've got to wait to get more spokes. I've run out of money this month, and now next month isn't looking so great as I just found out my LBS has managed to poach me a Mission Workshop Orion jacket that as meant for a pop-up in berlin. I'm currently trawling for a good deal on a chainset and a 10 speed RD. I have ordered some bars though.

got some record downtube adjustors yesterday, like these:
bars are on order
They're bont SSR VR-C, I liked the look of them on superjoes build so i thought i'd give them a crack.
Replacement spokes are also on order and I picked a new romin for £20 too
not the greatest looking saddle in the world but sure is comfortable. Will probably put a flite on for the photos, as its a bit more period.

Got a few things in the post.
cranks are great condition apart from the scuffing to the logo so i might just polish them off. tape is grey soft touch, which i'm hoping will match the paint job nicely. Bars should be coming this week, hopefully the wheels will be finished too.

fuck it, centaur logos are ugly as shit and too scuffed, the cranks are getting sanded down and then polished up.

Don't know if you've done this kind of thing before but you may not have to scrub too hard, so be careful. I did the same thing with a Dura Ace seatpost and was surprised how easily the logo came off just with a washing up scourer, but not before I'd put in a few very minor scratches by scrubbing a little too enthusiastically.
The cranks are lovely so should come up handsome.

Where did you find the romin for £20?

Nice paint. Reminds me of the old fat tubed Klein MTBs.

I tried a little light polish to get the logo off but the damage was more than that, it had effected the finish. The coating had come off to so when i tried to clean them up there were strange shiny spots and some reasonably bad scratches. I decided to open the big pub of elbow grease and stripped off the entire finish off and polish them up from scratch. They had a going over with two different grades of wet & dry in two directions and then out came the autosol. It was quite a long job but I watched some films to pass the time.
As you can see there is a little fiddly bit round the pedal holes which needs a bit more work when i can be bothered, you wont really be able to see it with the pedals on though.

I have my sources
/taps side of noseNice paint. Reminds me of the old fat tubed Klein MTBs.
Cheers, it is rather 'kleiny' isn't it?
I also got these for the princely sum of £15
Need to be cleaned up a bit and given some new pads, but they should do the job nicely.
also put the record downtube cable stops on
I just got a text for my lbs too, wheels should hopefully be done this week as the spokes have come.

What's the total cost going to come to?
-
• #63
oOo I dont know, I will have to tot it up. I sold my old road bike today, i can't see it being more than the money I got for that i.e. <£350.

Either way it's looking like a great bargain for a sexy frame kitted out like that.
What's still missing?
-
• #65
Cheers, I'm hoping it'll all come together nicely.
Left to buy:- Rear derailleur (10 speed in silver, if anyone has one)
- Handlebars
- 10 speed Cassette
- Chain
- Cables / Brake Pads
...and probably some other little bits and bobs I can't think of.
I picked up the wheels today which, rather pleasingly, I didn't have to pay to be built / for extra spokes. So they've only cost me the initial £65. I'd prefer gumwalls for the tyres but I had some 25c Gatorskins which are pretty much new so it would be wasteful not use them.
I'm pretty please them all in all for the price.

that is going to turn out very nicely spotter!
ref. the bars, any thoughts? please no shallow bends!
-

I like the crank saying 'ultra drive'. Sounds cool and fast.

Thanks, it'm please with how its turning out so far.
As for bars i'm getting some bontrager SSR VR-C, as seen here on superjoe's amazing bridgestone.
I like a good flat transition from bar to hood as I have some comfort issues from when I broke my hand and wrist in 4 places.
I hope they will suite it ok.

Pity the rider will be uncool and slow.

Bars came today so I though it'd give a little teaser
obviously this is only quickly put together.

• #72
very nice indeed. the bars suit it nicely.

• #73
I like a bit of downslope on my bars/hoods personally, but aesthetically those look the nuts!
-
• #74
I need mine to be flat as possible, kills my wrist otherwise. I'm liking the clearances myself.
I'm wondering if I should splash out for some silver brade outer cable, do people think it would fit well?

Just a thought, but you might have a crud catcher there in that adaptor that would ruin the paint. Would lifting the shim up flush to the top be a better way to go?
Loving those polished cranks.
here's some photos of the FD, you can just see the rather nicely made shim in the second one.
and here are some photos of the sparkle in the paint with the sunlight hitting it
