Sounds like a good 'un to me. Will all depend on having a job though (trains from bristol to London aren't particularly cheap... Unless they are of cpurse.. I'm too lazy to check right now

Tickets are £12.50 if you book now, and much cheaper than the potential groupsave. Best option in my experience is to check the forecast 2 weeks prior and then commit to an advanced ticket (should be <£20).
@Flouncehedge, prob a mix of drivetrains. I'm likely riding SS to take advantage of the descents as I spin like an octogenarian.

What a difference a year makes. I was intimidated by the distance, the hills and Braker last time out. In and fixed.
-
• #30
...yeah, I did this ride in 2010 on fixed. tbh, It's not too hilly & I don't think gears would help that much.
I will be fg for sure.

Hm. Been dithering over this since it was first posted, but since Stonehedge gently told me off last week for not doing enough rides I think I'm going to go for it. Will be riding it fixed, unless I start to Lose My Shit halfway through in which case I will be flipping the flipflop back to SS.

Ha! I suppose I did have a gentle go. Which makes this all the more embarrassing.
Out! Just realised that this coincides with seeing my brothers kids and this is the first time that they've been free and coincided since November so I really can't reschedule.
Enjoy ladies and gents. I'll be riding the route again soon if anybody is interested.

So wanted to do this ride, as im already going down to bristol bespoke bike show. =(
-
• #39
^ so do it!
Some* (incl. Sam) are going to stay overnight and will no doubt visit the Bespoke Bike Show on Sunday morning.*not me though
-
• #40
^ Wot he said... but I might train back the same day - big 30th that night to hit in London. Decisions :-/
I'll post the train info soon, and will probably book in advance to save monies and avoid the potential groupsave lottery.
Oh, and if anyone is thinking of coming but has concerns about the pace, we stay together and i've done nothing but eat pies and ride a 30min commute since the autumn. We'll keep it steady, but make the stops short*
*Stuff face, admire scenery, and roll.

Sam, we are planning on getting the 6.30 train from brizzle. Will get into farnborough at 8.30. Will that tie in nicely with your plans?
-
• #42
I am anti list but still in for this one.
-
• #43
Out I'm afraid. Shit weather this weekend now means I've got to be somewhere else instead of Brizzle next weekend.

Apologies for the radio silence... i've been busy.
TRAINS
London -> Farnborough
We're going to be on the 08:09 from Waterloo to Farnborough, getting in at 08:44. This should be cool for mista s & co. coming from Bristol. Londoners, please try to arrive suitably early so we can sort out groups of 4/3 to take advantage of groupsave tickets on the day - should hopefully work out @ less than £10 each out to Farnborough and the train will be quiet for our bikes.I'm going to PM everyone on the list my number so you can txt/call if there's a problem.
Bristol -> London
Tickets are currently £18 for most evening options. I'm hanging with some pals for a bit when we arrive, so i've booked on the 20:33 arriving in London Paddington @ 22:22. Feel free to book whatever option suits, but I would be very wary of booking a train before 19:30, just in case there are bike-related issues on the way.FYI, it's possible to bail @ Bath if you've had enough, which is 15 miles before Bristol. Highly recommend staying the course though as the path from Bath to Bristol is awesome.
Thanks

Cheers Sam. I might be difficult and ride out to Farnborough and then get the train back from Bath. Any idea what time we're likely to hit Bath?

In. You lot mostly riding geared? Quite tempted to go fixed. Will probably wish I was riding geared after a few rounds of cockpunch though.
