67" would make most sense if there are some bumps, given the average pace it would be better to be in a spinny gear
-

Ian, you know very well that the main choice facing you is what excessively heavy and unnecessary things to put in your courier bag. Don't try to throw us off the scent.

I haven't decided if I'm going to bedwet on this or not.
I confess to being somewhat put off by things like
"pray for a tailwind", "seriously reconsider your gear choice", "relentless climb", "uphill all the way", and "does anybody have a map"
That's just the usual forum bullshit. Don't listen to it. It's a very nice route, there'll be decent weather, good company, and a perfectly sustainable pace in the slower group.

Ok havent managed to get hold of some panniers so I've opted for the more streamlined seat post rack instead. My spare pair of shoes should fit in my bag. So I'll see you lot around 9am

The meeting point for the ride is the church on Warwick Avenue.
This is the route that we are using
(Please note you can download a GPX if that's your thing, if you're awkward and want a TCX PM me your email address before Thursday evening).
For those riding fixed or SS, please check the profile (Show & Elevation Profile on the above link) and select an appropriate gear. The uphill, though not steep, is fairly relentless.Leaving at 8.30
**The slower group: 82.85k
**Circa 4 hours including stops
Sociably paced 24kmh/15mph average with "comfort breaks" if/when required.
No one will be dropped.
If you like a nice ride with good company and the occasional chat this is the one for you.
Train tickets are £13 for a "cheap day single". Group Save tickets are also available1) Skydancer - Fixed
2) Bluefleet - SS or geared, not decided yet
3) Hairnet - SS
4) Oliver Schick - TBC
5) conker (ian) - fixed

The fast group - 2×82.85k:
Sub 3 hours out, no wee stops.
6pt reckons he could do it 19–20mph average solo so we'll be looking to improve on that as a group. I will also endeavour to teach him that his choice of unit is inferior.
People doing the fast ride one way will be frowned upon (unless they happen to carry on for a solo century warm down).1) 50/14- Winged
2) Object - Geared
3) joe smith - geared up to the eyeballs
4) FridayMarch26th
5) zanda - geared
6.pt - Geared
7) mountaingoatmatt - geared
8) SRBradley - geared
9)
10) The Bear - gearedFAST GROUP PLEASE NOTE:
Owing to the above riders in the fast group should be prepared to get themselves to Bletchley if they fall off the back. Again self-sufficiency is key.
In at 11.

I'm out. Need to be back at a decent time. Gonna do a loop down south instead with some hills. Sorry for last minute change.

Oh Smiff, was looking forward to having you along.

Really enjoyed this ride a couple of years ago, only the one group but it was quick enough - for me at least. Hope this one is as good, I'd love to tag along but as a North's regular I have more local commitments. Bloody hills.

Am running too late for this.. Out sorry..
weather's looking dry and the wind is 14-19mph according to BBC.
I've printed off a map/route just in case (10 A4 pages)
Can't make up my mind whether to change sprocket (71" or 67")
Probably wouldn't make much difference!
