  • OK, this is in 2 days.

Regarding the meeting point(if it is blocked with Olympic stuff) - whoever gets there first can decide where to wait - just make it as close as practical to the start point on the route.

Plenty of shops and stops on route but bring some water, food and sunscreen anyway because it is going to be hot!

    Bring tools and tubes.

A puncture can be fixed in under 10 minutes, I don't want a group this size to have to wait longer than that, can offer assistance.

There are 4 hills but generally the route is pretty flat.

    Distances
If you are going to end at:
    Herne Bay(100KMs)
    Margate(117KMs down beautiful coastal path)
Canterbury(110KMs just south of Herne Bay)

Group save now is a good idea, but cheap group save can also be purchased on the day.

My plan is to get to Herne Bay, eat their lovely fish and chips and continue onto Margate because the coastal path is worth the extra few KMs.

If I get a flat at any stage of this journey I'm turning back and walking home.

  • Does anyone happen to have a GPX of the route? Looking forward to this now, just one more day at work to get through...

  • Open the map link on first page and there will be an "export to GPS" button.

  • Open the map link on first page and there will be an "export to GPS" button.

    A thousand thanks.

  • Just 1000? Pft.

  • braker - I see you lurking. Name back on list.

  • For the return journey, there's 2 trains an hour from Margate. 45 past the hour to Victoria and 53 past to St. Pancaras. The Margate one stops at Herne Bay and Whitstable and is the only train back from those stations. Canterbury East and West also offer 2 or 3 trains an hour each back to civilisation.
Still hoping to make this one.

  • Can't do anymore :(
