  • Any pub near any important building has a secret tunnel that runs between them. FACT.

Ace - we now have two actual facts. One of which is about Boadicea and may or may not be true.

  • Oh no! I've always wanted to meet Bobbo of tagging fame (and also maker of the most amazing Nyan cat cake). Another time ...

Get thee to the Raven on a Thursday

  • Might be able to make this, from the north, quite fancy a social ride around some sweet bits of LDN.

will check train rape fees, cough, 'prices', cough.

  • Am in awe of how many people want to mooch round London looking a drain covers with us! I've update OP with final route (pretty much unchanged).

For the dedicated, a bit of background on some of the places we're going to (well mostly standing on top of):

    Bagnigge Wells and Mount Pleasant
    http://www.sub-urban.com/lost-bagnigge/

    The Mail Rail
    http://postalheritage.org.uk/page/mailrail

39 Furnivall St - Kingsway tunnels
    http://www.lfgss.com/post2621812-5555.html
    http://www.lfgss.com/post2622262-5573.html

    Aldwych Station
    http://underground-history.co.uk/aldwych.php

    Lower Robert St
    http://www.lfgss.com/post2144517-2151.html

The heat accumulator at Churchill Gardens
    http://www.lfgss.com/post2497696-4842.html

    The Camberwell Submarine
    http://www.lfgss.com/post2118018-1933.html
    http://www.lfgss.com/post2118040-1935.html

Deep level stations at Stockwell and Clapham North
    http://www.lfgss.com/post2521693-5083.html

  • There are the deep level stations at Belsize Park and Camden too which might not be too far off route.

  • Camden one is a bit tricky to find (I never have) so might be a bit of a "fun" thing to do. (I believe it's in a Waitrose carpark and I'm sure you all know just how much FUN there is to be had in a Waitrose carpark.)

  • How about the Brunel tunnel/museum? Fascinating place.

  • Oops sorry. Just looked at your route. This would be too far east anyway.

  • Barry Mason, who taught me so much about everything, did an amazing Subterranean London ride in 2010 as part of the London Festival of Architecture.

In his write up he said:

"London Hydraulic Power covers on Bermondsey Wall East, Robert Hulse down the Brunel tunnel shaft, Father Mark in St Mary's amazing crypt, Kim's South Korean Old Justice pub cellar, through the Rotherhithe tunnel, founder Jools on Wapping Hydraulic Power station and the stunning pendulums there, 13 floors down the deepest car park in Europe, Crossbones grave yard, Union Street orchard."

It was an unforgettable ride. One of the last I did with him.
