I think first great western is the cheapest(32). Is the bike carrying free on trains?

Yeah, but you'll need to get reservations on the phone, in advance.

If your bikes are in bike bags for the flight I'd say keep them that way until you arrive in Bristol... They'll need to be in bike bags to travel on the tube/coach across London and then it'll save you having to worry about reserving bike spots on the train to/from Bristol
(also leaves those reservations open to Londoners, not being selfish, just logical).

Just looking at trains, when are people going?
If you go at strange times, you can get the advance tickets down to about £33, off peak is £64.50, super-off-peak is £51.50
I'll probably get an open ticket, so that I can head back whenever on the Sunday, but not sure whether to come Friday afternoon to get some games in, Friday night, or first thing Saturday morning.

Friday afternoon!

was the idea about hardcourtbikepolo.org tracking player stats going to happen this year? I think it would be cool if it did
-
• #359
I hope it does, I want to get some points.
-
• #360
Probably not unless someone steps up specifically to handle it.
-
• #361
Everyone register, NOW! go go go
-
• #362
What needs to be set up? Tournies on their site? Could you make it a specification for NS? That way each tourney will have to make sure it's all correct?
-
• #363
I can liase with Zach on this, and get it sorted, just don't want to trample on Bristol's toes.
-
• #364
It would be cool to track players over the season, seems the easiest way of doing it
-
• #365
Yeah, it would be awesome.
Awesome if you are a stats nerd, anyway.
-
• #366
would we need to organise an assistant ref to note goal scorers?
-
• #367
is the penthouse a prize again this year?!
-
• #368
you get a penthouse
-
• #369
would we need to organise an assistant ref to note goal scorers?
Nah, it only does results, not scorers.
-
• #370
cool, I think it should be done, anyone else think not?
-
• #371
Volunteer and it will get done?
-
• #372
What will need doing?, Chasing people up to register?
Not sure what to do on the technical side i.e. reporting to the website at the same time as podium. If Bristol OK it, I'm happy to get everyone to register though
-
• #373
Are they using podium? Vince says there will be a linkup between podium and hardcourtbikepolo.org
First think I need to do is see if 1) Zach is happy for these stats to be in it (I don't see why not), and 2) Get a tournament added.
Then we can see who is on it already, and get people registered, or create dummy accounts if they don't want to be.

Every single player who plays in a NS event will need to be registered on the site (they don't need to do it, they can log on later and link themselves to that player). Every single result will need to be entered and every single team variation somehow accounted for (at the moment, a team cannot take a sub, they have to be a different team AFAIK).
For this year's NS we will be trialling a couple of our own ranking algos so I don't really have time/inclination to manually enter it all. No guarantee that every NS tournament will use podium.

Yep, multiple teams isn't really an issue with it though.
The scores don't have to be entered live in any case, the easiest way is just to send him a spreadsheet, which is what I'm going to do with the LII
You can also get a bus from Stansted to Heathrow, then another bus from there to Bristol.
Not sure what the deal is with bikes, I guess they have to be well packed.
