I am on my phone every day. Same phone for two years. Must be more accurate now with more satellites yes. But I am losing like 1km a day here đŸ˜Ÿ

What does Google say the actual distance is? Maybe you weren't riding that 1km at all and now need to extend your commute. If it makes you feel any better, my commute is measured in metres now.
Firmware updates could impact phone accuracy (you'd hope for the better).

Maps days 6.4km
And Strava said 6.03km this morning. But previously we have been closer to 7km. And last week I got a KOM saying I did 86kmh up a small hill which I def wasn't. So was just wondering if there was a Strava glitch happening to everyone or whether it's just a coincidence.
My Wednesday night ride is normally 40km exactly and now it's 38.something.
I mean I can obviously continue living with these facts, but I was wondering why it suddenly was so noticeable.

If you're using the Strava app, they could've definitely broken something, but it could also be maybe satellite position/availability. Did you used to turn your phone on earlier outside beforehand? I have tonnes of commutes logged and some of them are all over the place because I've left before its got a lock. It's possible that Strava has adjusted their error correction or smoothing and that's the deal.
You can fix it by not caring. :) GPS has a margin of error so for me unless my commute suddenly lost 30% of the distance I'd not notice and thus not care. Start measuring time on the bike instead? We make much more accurate clocks :)

I guess it could be a case of going from WiFi to roaming...
Anyways, let's not waste more internet on this topic. I think I found enough answers to allow me to sleep tonight

I think most phones these days use A-GPS, which uses shit like cell towers (maybe wifi but don't think so) to get a quicker fix on your location before the GPS locks on so there's definitely more error with that. If you want to be really accurate, turn on a bunch of devices outside and then average them all or call the military or get a calibrated trundle wheel and go all OSM mapping on...

Already called the army. They were not helpful ;-)

I get up to 0.5 mile difference over a 18 mile commute between having the phone mounted on the bars vs in my jacket pocket or in a bag.

Anyone else having strava sync issues today? My (quite honestly incredibly fast) run isn't uploading from Garmin Connect...
-
• #5390
Yup, had to manually upload my (incredibly fast) run
-
• #5391
They had some sync issues with Garmin in the previous days https://status.strava.com/history

Cheers, worked out how to do a manual upload.

Don't you remember 2009, when I was fast and won the Ronde?

No, I can't say I do. Must be getting old.

Small, odd gripe. I'm sure it used to say somewhere on your profile how long you've been a member of Strava. Did they get rid or am I being blind?

Ahhh, found it by logging in via a web browser. I thought it was like Instagram where it deliberately has less functionality if viewed online but apparently not.
Are you using the same device? A possible reason is with the increase in satellites and Garmin's ability to use more of them, it's recording your ride more accurately so, fewer 'blips' equals less distance recorded.
Or you've found a shortcut or a wormhole.
