It is the easiest way I've found of keeping an accurate riding diary. Pretty useful if you have a goal or event in mind.
It's also a constant graphic reminder that there is always someone faster (and slower) than you.

"someone faster or slower than you" on Strava reminds me of a Facebook "friendship" :)

Those challenges they do, like the Rapha festive 500, do you think they'd do a LFGSS one if we approached them?
-
• #55
Nothing to say you couldn't do your own isn't there? If everyone joined the LFGSS club, top mileage.
That is doable right?
-
• #56
Yeah, suppose so. There's only 8-9 of us in there at the moment. Would be fun if they could do challenges other than total mileage, like hitting as many locations on a list as possible, something different like that.

I just use total miles.

Or how about how courteously, sedately and exuding of love and friendship one cycles? Karmic miles if you will.

This. Everyone in the country should be forced to have an account, and once a year anyone with a negative balance will be culled. Courteously and sedately, of course.
First up, the man in the silver van who cut me up yesterday then laughed at me when I caught up to him at the lights and suggested he check his mirrors when moving left. Laughed. Like some sort of evil clown.

Strava doesn't have a statistic for drunk riding though.

Maybe Garmin could incorporate a sensor, a bit like the HR one, but for how much booze there is in your bloodstream.

Geotag uploaded pics of your empties as you ride/drink perhaps?
Too much technology Skully?

Technoboozing is very now.

^ Nah, Chatroulette was so 2010.

Duff left leg hurting like a proper c**t after battling the wind today and Thursday but I think I'm finally seeing some improvements! Cheers Strava ;-)

Might try it at some point this summer. Maybe Dunwich Dynamo and on to Norwich, something like that.
Let me know when chap. I'd be up for this. I think the DD then back to Norwich is probably under 200 miles though.
Pretty sure we could come up with a 200 mile route around London/ Norfolk and do it during the summer some time. Let me know and I'll book some holiday off.

Is there a 200 mile route just around Norfolk that lands back in Norwich? Then we wouldn't have to worry about logistics at the other end - just crash into bed.

My summer route we did in just over 2 days was 310 miles around Norfolk. I'll come up with a route and send it over to you. 200 miles in under 24 hours sounds good.

Fixed that for you.

Ha!
So long as I've got a lot to eat, and believe me I will. We'll be fine. On a roadie try and keep an average of 14mph for 15 hours travelling and we will have done it. That leaves us a few hours for stops/ crying on the side of the road wondering what the hell we are doing.
I'll plan the route so it goes through towns so we can stop for supplies so we don't have to carry much. I'd ride it on my audax (for comfort) and take a saddle bag (spares) but that's it.

OK, shall we plan for the peak of summer when daylight is longest?
-
• #74
He he - sounds good to me.
Don't forget Dunwich Dynamo though!
Something like this looks ideal; we could meet in Cambridge, or even Start from Norwich and finish in Norwich?
-

I suppose that makes sense - it gives us the option to bail out and get home within 15 miles from any point in the last 60-70 miles if anything goes wrong.
It is not just commuters using it.
I appreciate pros may be paid or sponsored to use it, but it is still interesting to see all their training data.
