  • Problem is if you look at some of the top of the table rides in the gran fondos, the rides are so fucking boring. Like some dude in SW London just do about 50 laps of a park. Get a life, go OUT OF LONDON and ride somewhere nice at least!

  • i know, march was 160km, which was a push for me at the time, just churning out the same challenges each month isnt exactly going to inspire anyone to go out and achieve something inspirational!

    200km at least please

Such generalisation! Good luck from finding a number that is all challenge to all people. If it's not a challenge simply don't sign up.

  • Why are people getting annoyed at other's cycling?

    :-]

  • I signed up to the Sisu running challenge and it's not counted any of my running which is within the period of the challenge- leaving me with rather a lot to do in the next few days. Which isn't going to happen.

yes but if you do manage to ride 130 this month, you could ride 140 next month and 150 the one after that and 160 the one after that, is the point not to inspire, motivate and challenge you to push yourself?

  • is there a cheap way to record GPS for an extended period of time?
    (For the Dunwich Dynamo mainly)
my phone doesnt like battery and gets rid of it all as quickly as possible

The app "ipbike" records using very little battery - disable data, wifi, bluetooth as well for prolonged life.

Overdoing it now is not going to help next weekend.

Not that I will take my own advice - I'm doing all the training right now.

  • Nah nah nah I can't hear you

No because it's not January. I'll be doing fewer hours at higher pace.

I think the fondo is aimed at new riders building up to their 1st xxxkm ride. They'll do one of these fondos, then their charity ride.

  • Nah nah nah I can't hear you

I've just been Strava stalking you.

Your 3:44 for the mile is impressively fast, but your 58 minute half marathon should see you cleaning up at the next olympics.

I should probably upload my 1s Taymount sprint segment if I'm to be at all competitive.

  • Try now

  • in strasbourg france are some strave segments where people race against each other on their fixies

  • Only happens in Strasbough, I'm sure.

  • Emam and I have done something different for each Fondo so far, although I've got 2 not recorded due to device issues.

It's been nice seeing somewhere different each time.

Currently considering whether to do May and June's Fondos back-to-back by riding out on Saturday May 31st and back on Sunday June 1st. North-East Wales or Cumbria, depending on the wind direction.

  • 540km? how long you spending on that?

    20 hours.

If it takes more than 26 hours I miss my flight and need to ride 560km back home. Which would make me sad.

Overdoing it now is not going to help next weekend.

I did all my training over a month ago and then stopped running properly.

    Do I win?

  • I did all my training in 2012.

    #doingitright

  • It's all gone very meta here - a non dick waving contest in the Strava thread.

  • I'll fix that.

    27kph for 20 hours? Good luck :)

  • I'll fix that.

That's assuming 20 solid hours in the saddle

  • It's possible

Mentalist. My moneys on him to win the Trans Am race next month.

  • I know it's possible (I've ridden at 34kph for 24 hours #flexesguns), but I wouldn't be risking flights to find out you have a bad day.

  • km/h

  • he means kielbasa per hour. it's how much he eats whilst riding.
