  • Better bikes go faster. Speed increases crash risk and damage potential.

Give me all your nice bikes. Solved.

  • Just got Premium for free for a year after a billing muck-up, so might buy a bluetooth HRM strap to make use of it, any suggestions?

  • On one of the sections on my ride, a 30mph road, the leader is an average of 79.80mph. Unbelievably stupid

  • How long is the section? Flag it as it's most likely innacurrate GPS data

    The Garmin one is ok.

    0.1 miles :) 77.9mph
Could be some twat in a BMW/Audi having a laugh though no?

  • The only cycling segments I have KOM on. Are the ones too lumpy, and winding to ride well on a road bike. So I throw my fixed around them. One of the more popular local 25km loops involves a short cut over a mountain through the Woods. Probably lost a lot of time running through the Woods carrying the BJ. But I'm still 7th out of god know how many XC'rs.

I pamper my nice bike at home. But I dont spend money and time on it. To pamper it on the road.

The honest issue is, that I am not particulary fast over a good road segment. :(

Short segment magnifies inaccuracies in GPS and sample scheduling.

  • More than likely an error, just flag it and they'll nuke it.

  • I'm a leading GC contender for flagging. I've KOM'd all the sections with my flag. #capturetheflag #doingitright #nukenukenuke

  • I held a KOM with a random blip when I was using strava on my phone, showed me as accelerating to 30 up a hill even though I was slowing to a stop. 6 months later I beat that KOM legitimately.

    Strava commuter twat.

  • This^

Its fecking miles off. Elevation data is totally screwed. So gradients are wrong. Power data is often 40% off.

Get a free trainingpeaks account, and a decent GPS/altometer if you are interested in actual data. Strava is just Facebook for the athletically minded.

This has nothing to do with Strava, in fact, you'd be better using Strava if your data is this shit to begin with. Elevation data from Garmins is often wank as it uses barometric pressure which requires consistent weather. Read more here

When you upload to Strava it actually makes your elevation data considerably more accurate as it looks at actually charted and confirmed data for where your route went and then weights the garmins data.

    If your power data is off, then thats down to two things;

If you have a power meter, then you've been done and it's a shit power meter. Strava doesn't take the power figures from your recording device and change them.

If you are using estimated power, you haven't put your weight in correctly.

...or there was a tailwind, or a headwind, or your mates are pulling hard on the front, or the road surface is heavy, or surface is light, or water bottles are both full, or your water bottles are both...

    ...but yeah.

    only cyclist in the village.

  • what is the "official" Ditchling Beacon segment? It's absolutely covered in them and I don't really know which one is best.

  • Does anyone else use a Garmin wristwatch on the bike? I find that mind bruises my wrist or cut off the blood if it's tight enough not to move. Is there an adapter for a handlebar?

  • tanks

  • No problems.

  • You spend a lot of time in Croydon: my condolences.
