Cheers.
I'll look into it.

I think you need to cycle over it first and then make the segment, otherwise strava won't give you a segment creation option.
Let us know before you try it so that we can notify the authorities to go dredging for you, though.
When we cycled to the Olympic Road Race TV got a new KOM walking up the South Side of Box Hill. This might or might not happen when you cycle over the reservoir.
Assuming it has not created the segment you can then do this yourself and will be awarded with a KOM which will unfortunately not show on this ride.
To get the KOM on a ride you have to then follow this route again and ride faster. And not miss the route.

Last week:
I am still managing to aviod strava. Dunno why I dont like it. Just dont.
Oh how things change!!
Is there a way of transfering files from the Garmin Connect site to Strava?
Just gave in and joined.
Partly because I want to create a 7km segment across our local reservoir. Then ride across it on the studded tyres of my fatbike, when it freezes in a few months. Should be able to hold on the that one.
:)

KOMs only autocreate when you there is a given amount of rise over a given distance. You need to be going up a hill for it to happen.

Well I did a messy job of uploading about 6 rides. I did'nt realise I have to upload the file. Then wait for Strava to analyse it. So it'll need redoing.
I am second fastest at everything it seems. At least a dosen 2nd place segments all to different people. For fucks sake.
Two of the segments are ones I would have created myself. They are either side of that lake infact. I rode them fixed. But thats probably no excuse there's no major desents.
One of the segment I came 7th on. Is going to be a popular one. Decending 30km back to Valdall, from Trollstigen. Real cyclist paradise. Except I was riding with a busted rear mech, so kept spinning out at 140+ cadence.
Theres also a few climbs I've ridden fixed since my BMCs been ill.
Next spring I will destroy this pretenders. Grrrrrrr.

Nout wrong with tailgaiting buses. It's a free ride, innit.
Just accept you will hit potholes and branches/KFC * etc. Don't try this at home etc, etc.
- rural/urban. Delete as appropriate.
{ I know you know this already – just adding caution for posterity }

Well being a lake it wont be a KOM, but a CR.
If I ride it with snow cover, I can follow my tracks within a day if the weather isnt too bad.

Only do it on roads you really know. I do it on some roads where I know where all the manhole covers and rough bits are

A few nights ago I was drafting a SUV. Not something I do TBH. But I was in an aggressive mood, letting off steam, and generally being a bit immature. I was right up at the back window, watching the driver through his mirror looking for signs that he might brake. He looked pretty worried I thought. Then after a bit he slowed and let me past................erm cheers. Piss.
CSB.

In other news. I realised I could transfer the old data from when I was using a Bryton GPS puter. Just logged into their site, and my page was empty? WTF? I havent used it for quite some time. But I have some big climbs on there. Not to mention a few CRs for the more obscure local segments. Bollocks.

Panic over found it all. Strava has suspended Bryton users from uploading for the minute though.
Will need to do this from home tonight.

Lee, from mtbr fatbike section, someone set a KOM on a frozen lake.
Here:
Strava Segment | Stuck in the middle...of the lake
Thought I'd share my fatbike "specific" segment. We did this ride on January 1st, 2013. The lake was frozen over and had about 2 inches of snow on top. So, I made a segment in the middle of the lake. Try to take that KOM *****es!

If it's a frozen lake, anyone could ride it. Studded tyres would actually fit on the Shiv. Fatbike.. pfft!
-
• #2593
Feck. Theres no such thing as oringinality these days.
5 people have ridden that one. Dont think there'll 5 fatbikes within a 150km radius of me TBH.
-
• #2594
I've got a KOM from London to Sydney. Beat that, fuckers.

That photo is real bloody rare. By the time its been cold enough long enough, for the lake to freeze hard. When you live in an area of extreme percipitation levels, its going to be under a meter of snow.
Skinny tyres - fat cyclist is all wrong for this ;)
Not sure how many studs to use yet. If it is clear, I'll chuck a load more in the rear.

The biggest challenge is getting to the US and the frozen lake before getting stuck in to my Man vs. Food road trip.

There's often pulled pork options at Kerb: http://www.kerbfood.com/kings-cross/
Also LOAF on Tottenham Court Road do a pulled pork lunch box. I even think EAT were doing a pulled pork hot box. It must be popular here. -

None up here, never seen it before. I'll have to seek some out when I'm over for Christmas. Specifically covered in super spicy, uber calorific, sauce.
I've never needed to do what you want to do, but there's a thing on the strava FAQs that describes how to do it in bulk, the 3rd party tools might work. If they even still work, after strava broke everything on purpose to "enhance" the user experience of their service.
