39 miles a day for 8 days...
-
• #1603
I rode on six of the available days last year to complete this, I did the ROTFL long course as the final days ride- bad choice as the hills were not kind.

Yep, signed up. Getting a bike fit on 25th so should be pleasant...

Is anyone doing the festive 500? I got an email about it yesterday, I reckon it'll give me something to do when I'm not stuffing my face with chocolate orange.
Not this year, unless I change the date on my GPS and do it a week early/late.

Last year I did a 200k ride on NYE just for shits and giggles. It's easy if you don't have other commitments.

Or train in Texas cough

I have signed up to the Festive 500. If I do 50km I'll be impressed.
-

I really like the fact, that it's possible to download a gpx file from any route on Strava.

This. Need 43 more miles to break 6000 for the year, and I've only strava'd four rides since I fucked my body up mid-September so it's unlikely I'll bother. Meh.

Give me your gamin. I'll do them for you.

Lots of changes.
Some nice ones if you use power and are a premium member. And someone who wants to use strava to analyse their data. -
• #1613
Yeah, just been having a look at that, quite interesting.
And as is the way with these things, it produces graphs that I look at, and think "this should be telling me something, what is it?"
One thing to wonder is whether the FTP you had set at the time of the ride stays with that ride, if you see what I mean?
I've entered mine, but it's around 20 watts down on what it was for my last ride with power, which will skew things a bit.
-
• #1614
I don't have any power in strava so have only been able to snoop on a few people who do.
Still, it's a bit pointless when it's all relative to their powermeter. There might be a FAQ on the FTP question. Or email them, sure you're not the only one to wonder.

Terribly boring I know, but this is what I mean- this years ROTFL in October, but with my current FTP set in Strava (from TP):
Now with what I think my FTP was at the time:
Second one looks more likely, but I think that (based on limited playing around I just did) the charts auto-generate from whatever FTP you have set.
Not a problem- just stick the FTP you had at the time in the comments for the ride, but worth noting otherwise if you do use it to analyse old rides it may give misleading results.

Nice recovery ride that ;)*
Found Khouse on strava, cool dude.
http://app.strava.com/pros/173213*So hard to limit time in L1. Really been battling with that getting in and out of London.

I've been mainly swimming and running recently- average HR for running is late 150's, going to late 170's.
Great for Z2/Z3 constant output efforts, and getting to the chip shop quickly.

Surely the only bit of data that matters is the bit that tells you if you're faster than everyone else?
-
• #1619
On the segments page I don't recall seeing the category for your own rides before. Is this new or did I just miss it before?
-
• #1620
What's the deal with 'speed' on strava?
Apparently BMMF is the 5th faster around the outer circle at 70 odd mph. -
• #1621
It's highly inaccurate over short distances / laps. I wouldn't read too much into it. I've only ever come close to 70mph once, and have no desire to repeat the experience, particularly in NW1.
-
• #1622
70mph is just how this homeboy rolls. I suggest you stay out of his way, peoples.
-
• #1623
I did 60 down titsey hill a few times. That's was fun, crap road surface under the trees too.
First time I went down I didn't realise how soon pilgrims was way, that was a different kind of fun.
-
• #1624
Ok I was just looking at the to speeds, fastest was 100.8mph :O
-
• #1625
Regents Park segments are often fucked, people have set the distance of three or five laps, but because of the start/finish being the same, Strava counts the start/finish of one lap which throws the speed off.
Yes, you're missing me admitting you are right and that I can't count on the previous page.
