That segment is part of my favourite ride near Winchester: http://app.strava.com/rides/9443428# I'll be doing it on Saturday if anyone happens to be in the area
Added 0.2 mph, which felt harder than it sounds.

my strava achievement of the weekend was getting sixth place on an mtb trail in epping on my touring bike! had an absolute hoot blasting around and sliding all over the place on it. nearly stacked it once, but managed to jump off and catch the thing as it was happening. had a packed saddlebag on the back as well. great times! http://app.strava.com/rides/20510257#367993507

Strava'd my crack at the Ventoux - http://app.strava.com/rides/20682562
I was the only person I saw doing it on a steel frame today, and despite my mediocre time I feel like I did pretty well considering I only got offered the trip on Wednesday.

That isn't a mediocre time, anything under 2 hours is good going.
Was it very hot?

Nope, it can't decide between overcast and raining today. Better than baking heat.
I don't really do many road miles, but it felt alright so hopefully I'll improve. I'll have another crack from a different side maybe on Wednesday.
Thanks though. Not really sure where to place my performance.

Well I went up there on a modern road bike with about 3 weeks notice and did it in 1 hour 50 minutes having done the Malaucene side that morning. I do a fair bit of road riding though!
Do the Malaucene side if you get a chance! It's a completely different challenge. I think it's probably a bit easier overall, though it does have a nasty 4k in the middle of the climb which sticks around 13%. It does flatten off after that though! -

[B]Strava'd my crack at the Ventoux....
Euph?

Strava seems to think my average speed is higher than the garmin. By a fair margin too.
Which is right?

• #1317
Total, or moving?
-
• #1318
My strava seems to relentlessly subtract .3mph. I've given up moaning, and stick with whichever I would prefer to believe on the day.

Total, or moving?
That'll be it. Is garmin total? Stopped at a shop and for a piss.
Strava will be moving?
-
• #1320
Is your Garmin set to auto-pause? Check in the settings under 'Training' -> 'Auto Pause/Lap' or something.
-
• #1321
If you load it into Garmin Connect it generally tells you both- on my most recent ride Garmin Connect says 18mph average for the ride, 18.5 mph moving average, compared to Strava that says 18.1 mph (with no explanation as to moving/total/some odd hybrid).
Based on that wealth of evidence I'm going to say that Strava is telling my my average speed including the time I spent during my stop to take off my gilet.

Did you not ride back down? Are you still up there?

Nah it keeps running, the garmin. Will change that. Thanks.
It's moving time average (strava) V's Total time average (garmin)
Still ridewithgps.com has my moving average at .3 more as my total moving time is 3mins less.
ridewithgps metrics section is good. Love the breakdown of time at each speed, then what gradient underneath. -

I've just tried to understand WTF is going on in WKO again, and failed.

I'm waiting for the ski season.
To all that follow me on Strava.
Due to my health situation I'd advise you to look for someone else to race against. I don't think I'll be using it again*
And I've lost all my KOMs to young'uns.
