  • In all seriousness, while it's not exactly a norms in English touring bicycle specifically, a randonneur bar would be a good start;

  • What's "normal" matters not. If it's comfortable then ride it.

  • I'll agree, but Hilly Ben like to keep it as original (or closely so) as possible, like his Mercian and the recent Woodrup build.

  • i know there were GB randos in the 60s and there are Noodles now but don't know what came in between

  • The Maes shaped handlebar come to mind.

    But other than that, don't have much idea.

  • i guess shallow drop Sakae or ITM or ATAX

  • Update: I got some great news.

    First new is a message from Bob Griffin's son himself;

    Hi Edward

    Saw your message on the Bob Griffin page I set up. Bob is my Dad and I know he still has some original decals left for genuine folks like yourself.

    If you want to buy a set, call ***** ******. He now works at Roylans Cycles in Cheltenham. He's in on Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.

    Cheers
    James

    So not only I'll get original decals but will meet the man himself when I finish the bike and visit Roylans Cycles.

    The second news is the Paul hubs that have to be custom order as they only come in polished or anodised black, so I'll soon have an anodised silver front hubs to match the rear;

    Hi Ed,

    Your order hub ready to go! Please find PayPal invoice below.

    Cheers,

    Front wheel will be build soon, still got a lots to sort out (non-aero brake levers, campagnolo groupset, etc.), but it look like it's heading in the right direction.

  • Any update on this Ed?

  • Hubs finally here, will be delivered tomorrow.

    Going to start building the front wheel, still need to get the campag derailleur, going to try and tweak the bike to my measurment soon.

  • It arrived! and it look amazing in andoised silver!

  • Dibs

  • A lovely looking thing........

  • What freewheel will you be using? Also how do/did you chose?

  • Sexy sexy sexy!

    Good photography to boot aswell!

  • By doing a couple of century on it, freewheel will be 13-24 paired with 46-30 chainset.

  • Sorry, I wasn't that clear.

    It was more in relation to choosing a brand or model. Did you just pick one of ebay, or are there any particular brands or models you had chosen and why?

    Cheers.

  • Dibs

    will need a skewer though

    paypal ok?

    Suntour Winner 13-24, simply the best one you can get for the money, solid, reliable and have a pleasant "clunk" feel when you derailed the chain.

    Currently riding with Suntour 14-28 which is a great little freewheel.

  • Hey, That's my bike!
    I got it resprayed some years ago, before it was a fade of yellow and pink!
    Bob sent me some new stickers and a charming letter.
    Saddly the frame has cracked after one two many winter spills...
    It's a 531c, hope to get it mended some day.

  • Ed's probably already sold it.

  • Sorry, the picture of the blue Bob Griffin, I realised that the thread jumps to another page...

  • ^ not cool man.

    Its not done on here.

  • What happened to this ed? did it get replaced by the oak?

  • Oak forks on a Tokyo Dream Machine, actually.
