Can't wait for the Vuelta. It even has its own thread now. That makes the shit real

Fuglsang to Astana, joint team leader with Nibali, Nibali to ride the Giro and Fuglsang to head the team in presumably the tour, each with their own cadre of riders

OK, so we all saw the pictures of Wiggo on holiday yesterday:
Today comes the news that he will not be riding the Tour of Denmark.
Now call me a conspiracy theorist if you will, but look again at the second picture of Wiggo with a "cigarette". Look at the way he is holding it. That's not how people hold cigarettes. Not normally. But perhaps it isn't a normal cigarette. And perhaps that is some way related to the sudden withdrawal of Wiggo from the Tour of Denmark.

I remember reading somewhere that marijuana isn't on the UCI list of banned substances because it's not 'performance enhancing'.
Could be wrong, like. Anyhoo, it looks a lot like a standard shifty roll up to me, and Wigo looks like a typical shifty roll up smoker.

I defer to your greater knowledge, Lucy.

drinking, smoking weed, swearing, the guy's beginning to grow on me
-
• #1985
I'm not even sure it is his hand holding it, but the guy has been living like a monk since November, oxygen tents and all sorts, so I won't blame him for indulging in some vices. I can't see him smoking tho, unless he's basing more than just cadence on the career of Jans Ullrich

It's on the WADA list..
"Natural (e.g. cannabis, hashish, marijuana) or synthetic delta 9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabimimetics [e.g. “Spice” (containing JWH018, JWH073), HU-210] are prohibited."
I remember an Aussie archer being banned from competition for weed. I can understand it having an advantage there. Also I'm sure DH MTBers have been done for it (one was trafficking though).

oxygen tents
They don't actually use those do they? I thought that was Boardman messing with peoples heads.

Thought a judoka at the Olympics got done for weed?
Could explain Wiggo withdrawing from Denmark ;)

"I didn't inhale".. "I did not have sex with that woman"

Well, if big Tom can get on the nose candy and just get a slap on the wrist (twice) then a bit of a spliff shouldnt make too much difference.
Hippy, the DHer who got done was Missy Geove, I think she was dealing quite large ammounts of weed (400lbs) and ended up with some prisson time.
I literaly cant wait for the Vuelta! Froome has been on form but already has the tour in his legs. I think he will be better suited to a stage win or two rather than the GC, IF, he can keep up with Contador who despite the lack of racing will be flying.

It was three times with Boonen, no?
Yeah, Missy.. it was big time dealing. There were others done for using it.

The first time snowboarding was in the Olympics the guy who got gold then got it taken away for testing positive to cannabis, he said it was passive smoking

That's why they made that big deal about marginal gains and the team bringing their own mattresses/bedding/pillows etc into hotel rooms and set up a partnership with some athletic performance bedding company. Just a cover to explain the movement of the tents and associated kit into and out of the hotel rooms every night.
/conspiracy theory.

It was in one of his blogs where he was talking about the training regime, how he was sleeping in a seperate room to his wife in an oxygen tent.
I remember the snowboarder, he got off by claiming he was simply in the same room as people smoking. Surely testing snowboarders for cannabis is like shooting fish in a barrel though.
Crazy though, its detrimental to performance rather than enhancing. definately not la bomba

^ don't know about that. a big portion of performance doesn't come from the body, and if the stuff relaxes your mind and/or helps you focus, it might...

Not entirely true. Calms your nerves so you can perform under pressure.
This can be performance enhancing in lots of situations.
You also don't have to smoke it so there's no harm to your lungs. -

Focus? It's spliff ffs.

The tents simulate living at altitude so your body produces more natural EPO whilst sleeping/recovering for that "live high, train low" boost.
Same reason the training camp hotel was on top of a volcanoand difficult to get to for drug testers.
Thank god the Vuelta is nearly here.
Olympics withdrawal is in full swing.
Bring on saturday.
