It's shit on ice though, I have the broken alien seatpost and tennisball bruise on the hip as proof

I never got to use one on ice, just didn't like how they felt at all.

I think that their bark is worse than their bite.
I had them on the bob-rat for about 6months of brklz suburban commuting and occasional weekend hill-bombing.
The first 2weeks were horrendous but once the outer coating/mould release crap wore off they held the road a bit better.

I noticed no difference between the super toughness and standard izumi chains, I replaced both after a couple of months and both stitch about the same.

I've been browsing Factory 5's Flickr all morning. I'm really tempted by their F5 Pista frame, but what's with the fork clearance? I'd want rizla clearance.

Buy a cheap NJS fork from NJS export and get the steerer replaced at woodrup for around £50.

If a chain line is 5mm off, you can go through a kmc 510HX every week.
If a chain line is perfect a kmc 510HX will last 5 months or more.
(also there are other 1/8 chains available)

not a bad idea, just seems silly to have that much clearance.

They are really nice frames aside from that. I kind of wanted the fork to match the frame, paint job wise.

I would be surprised if the 510HX is as strong as a Wippermann 1R8, the plates on the 1R8 are very thick, I had to file my chain tool to allow it to fit.
