Yes my point is that this thread is being diluted by too many bikes with shiney, expensive parts that are for the most part great bikes, but fall short of being proper HHSBS

He's not trying to kill it, he's trying to make you lot realise the roots of HHSB. There's a fine line between true HHSB and anti-porn. Making a cookie-cutter Leader/Dosnoventa/whatever with thomson seatpost/stem, compact drops, zoncolan saddle and deep wheels isn't HHSB. It's got to be out the ordinary, something different, something ridiculous, but not ugly. It's in the name, being a slave to fashion with aethetics over function.

Look at the first pages of the bike porn thread, thing change and people can adapt or protest, their choice.

in other words, having people moaning about shit is what will ruin the thread and the only way to stop that is for everyone to just have an internal filter before posting. Harder for some I guess.

Then surely have a 'nice bikes' thread. The original poster summed up what the thread is about. Yes it may evolve, but not to the point when any old bike gets posted here. There has to be some standards. Is it a HHSB or not? If not it shouldn't be here

Yeah but everyone loves a NJS build, that's why the porn thread is full of them. HHSB isn't everyone's cup of tea, instead it's more marginal aesthetic.

So then surely a mash fits the bill completely.
