^^^^^^ @ thedopestghost. I Got the chrome midway pro shoes in that sale they had a while ago. I'm not sure if a good mix between spd shoes and normal shoes is feasible really. the soles are too stiff to walk in comfortably and the cleat scrapes against the ground when i walk. Atac cleats might not have this problem as they have a lower profile. They also aren't as comfortable for cycling in as my cheap shimano shoes.
I dunno that's just my experience with them. I've found myself using mtb shoes and bringing normal shoes with me more than using them. which is what i did before i got them. CSBI figured that might be the case.
cheers!

Dennis, it's pretty easy to convert vans to clipless shoes, mine lasted about 6 months and then I outgrew them, sure they would have lasted at least another year.
I'd be happy to do a pair for you once I've finished my exams in about a month.
If you're wondering my vans were the chukka low.

not a bad idea.
I'm tempted to go clipless but really dont want to carry a spare pair of shoes around everywhere with me.
I'll look in to it.

I did it following this here: http://www.lfgss.com/thread10440.html
Except I didn't use any glue so I could switch shoes easy. Works fine.

I took pictures of my first ones https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150231319786256.315253.500076255&type=1&l=7ab255bd5d
I later did a pair of nikes which were a little better because they had a thicker sole (so the cleats wouldn't stick out for walking on wood floors etc.)

Cheers man.
Looking at those guides I might have a go myself with an old pair of shoes and if I like it I'll invest in some new shoes to convert.

I have the Kursks but Atac cleats don't scrape (except the first couple of times after you fit them) and I've found them perfectly comfortable both on and off the bike, I walk around town in them all the time when I've locked up and there's no point moving the bike and although I wanted them for more casual riding I've done longer rides on them no problem.
This is almost as bad as internet bike fit

It's not like internet bike fit. Shoe preferences are obviously pretty personal. Surly what you're saying "is almost as bad as internet bike fit" by that logic. I was giving my opinion and your opinion is just more positive than mine.
They are still good shoes, I just prefer walking shoes for walking and cycling shoes for cycling. Jack of all trades master of none and all that. I'll be trying out atacs when my current pedals wear out.
With pistons like that you better be able to diesel all day Ian Stannard-esque. Then all night.
It's like painting a target on your back, everyone racing would be after you. Everyone one on your morning commute too.
