do what I did, cut the steerer above the headset, use a threaded to a-head converter that is 1 inch
deda makes them, cover the transition section with spacers, clamp the top with bars

yes, they were very noisy and I'm bored so I was adding fake grain etc.

oh ok, hadn't though you chose that route. That means though that your forks become designated to those bars. Want to continue using 1 1/8" stem afterwards? either got to use a shim over the a-head converter or change forks.

yeah I got a thomson shim for the more comical effect of thomson branded steerer tube sticking through the stem clamp
