  • the thing is, no one owns the tarck/track bike scene. and if only 1 out 100 tarck riders would love to go further (track racing) i'm more than happy. if there are people who just want to have fashion bikes i also don't care as it's their life and their money. the same for producing shit/cheap/slack geometry bikes. if people are buying them and feeling well, why not, better riding shit bikes instead of doing something stupid. give them the chance to grow.

  • With BMX flats my bike almost has fuckin pedal overlap, i'm more cool than all of you

  • you need to tighten your straps.

I found that with BMX flats I would almost be riding midfoot without realising!

  • Yh the straps are fine what i meant is the clearance is so tight the front wheel is almost actually hitting the body of the pedal. I get huge amounts of foot overlap with any pedal set up, but getting used to it takes no time and it's only ever proven to be an issue once

  • When I translate it, it says 3.6 pounds? But in Dutch it says Kilos?
    Que?

In Dutch it says Kilos yes haha, really heavy!

  • This whole 'dilute the purity of what we are doing' is getting a little fasc for me, chaps.

  • ^i'd wear one of those tees

    over lycra on a roadbike

  • Agree with this statement - and agree with your comments in principle.

My objection was to the sense that those who ride proper track bikes (in a rad fashion) but fall short of some arbitrary pronouncement by the geometry police are rendered somehow inferior.

I'd go as far as to say that those who ride a Dosnoventa properly should not be tarnished by the makers commercial ambitions, but you do have to ask why they'd bother to shell out for such a frame in the first place!

    This.

    Bang on. ;)

  • Has anyone even seen a dos' built up by anyone than the shop owners? Apart from that one in Japan i don't think i have

  • Never even thought to post that in here. Awesome example of geared HHSB tho!

Is that the same dude that owns the infamous green Bilenky?

yep, also the owner of THAT Yamaguchi, he most own some of the most internet famous bikes out there

No one owns it. It's ok if you want to just stand by and let it go to shit too.

I'm gonna try my hardest not to let things get worse. Because I care about the fixed gear scene. I don't own it, I'm not trying to own it.

I just want to point people in the right direction, rather than just let them waste lots of money and time and ultimately... effort.

Shitty companies who only care about making cool looking bikes are pulling the wool over peoples eyes and stopping them from having the chance to grow!!!

  • @andypancake. - I totally agree. It's the exact reason why road conversions are never any good in my mind. From riding a conversion to a fuji track, despite it being nothing fancy it has the right geometry and that's what makes it so fun.

There is a way of making 'slack' road geometry fun. You have to go and ride it on the (rural) roads it was designed for. There it will feel better than a track bike.

Also don't asume all road frames are stable. My Concorde road frame (running fixed) has a steeper HA and shorter wheelbase than the Fuji Track I had (with the same TT length).

  • Does the 14R have toe overlap?

mine does but not huge amounts enough to make me think about it when in traffic

  • I ha this discussion with andy before, also been to the dosnoventa shop, seen te frames and spoke to te owners of the shop and brand...... Clearly they have a passion for cycling and bikes (also motorbikes) but unfortunately with the Internet and fame makes it look like they only in for the money. They probably started this with very little but a lot of passion, seems that things have changed the other way around.... No passion just money and get the name out there. When I was there a couple of months ago the costumer service was next to nada, no interest on me they were discussing new names for frames which should from what I heard might be realised next year. I when for holidays but with the intention of getting a frame or at least talk me into getting one, they lost a costumer and a follower. I respect andy's opinion and what's he's trying to do for the fixed gear community. Also respect people trying to make money..... But can't get my head around getting somethig sold as a track bike when is not. Dosnoventa only appeal for the components they use, hed, rotor, phill wood. But that with ordinary day to day better parts and won't be the same.

this, and frame and decal colors. no one is posting their steel frames.

  • You forgot the valve caps.

  • Oh yes I did :(,

And now I look at it, their logo is a total rip off from Cyclops bikes..

    Swagger?

  • I don't really see an awful lot of difference between putting a road fork on a track frame (the old bareknuckles had drilled forks) than say changing the seat tube angle a couple of degrees. Not saying I'd give up my Cinelli for one of them Dosnoventas but as Sly Stone said 'different strokes for different folks' innit

And it's the first actual pic of a bike on this page, so far

Well luckily there are limitless pages to be filled in the future.

    Get cracking then (",)

  • im surprised nobody pointed out that all the noventas are built up with the same parts (well at least wheels) and you never see more than one at once
