I'm covered with M&S for up to £4k per bike for theft and accidental damage. £15/month, £100 excess.
May be a little short of the max coverage, but the shortfall should be accounted for by the premium savings.

Bear in mind that if any of your bikes are worth over 4K they are not covered on that policy- at all.
-
• #656
I assumed that they've cover anything, just cap the payout at that amount.
I claimed for an accidentally damaged bike with a value of over £4k. They priced the cost of replacement parts at £3400 (frame, shifters, rear mech, pedals) and offered to replace the parts through wheeliesdirect or a cash payout (minus x% because they get a discount when supplying or fitting replacement parts).

I called them to ask about just this- the chap I spoke to stated, unequivocally, that if the bike was worth over 4K and they'd not been told that, then the bike was not covered- my updated policy documents just arrived- my bike is listed as a specified item and my premium is now £61/month.
However, the bike is not correctly valued still I suspect- waiting for a valuation from a bike shop, but I think a true replacement value is going to make the premium untenable.
I said "I assumed you'd just pay out 4k as it's worth more than that", the chap said no, they'd not pay out at all, on the previous policy.

That's not good. I think the standard cover has dropped to £1k too without having extras loaded on. I was already concerned that come renewal time they may switch me over to that rather than renew the policy under the terms I signed up to.
Thought I had it a bit too good to be true and the alternatives all seemed steep when I searched at the time.
Though I do have a friend that just had a couple of bikes stolen and paid out for through Direct Line. One of the replacements offered was definitely over £4k (total payout was ~£6.5k). He said he's paying about £30/month. Don't know if they have a limit per bike.

I've got a KCNC one. Weighs 35g
pro carbon fork expander which is 30g
9g, maybe 10 with the glue
That's the bung, the screw and the top cap with built-in spacer so you don't need a separate thin spacer between your top cap and stem -

- whatever 2mm of your spacer stack weighs, i.e. about 1.5g, so yours is 50% heavier than mine :-)

On a different note, I need to send my SRM off to get serviced- has anyone any experience of Scientific Coaching and/or Trainsharp?
I need to decide who to send the power metre and PC-V to.
-
• #671
How much do the scales weigh?
-
• #672
I have no idea that trainsharp did servicing, and only heard bad stories (several actually) about the other provider. I would send them to Germany.

I'll give them a ring.
Let me know what you find out. I have been experiencing the same problem with insurance for the S-Works now that it has stupid wheels.
Question: if you have a 1500 wheelset that takes you over the limit for the bike, could I just list the bike with my training wheels on - which have a value of approximately 150 instead? That would probably keep me below the 4k cap... Maybe.
-
• #674
No is the answer- if the bike gets nicked with the expensive wheels on then it's "not as insured" and you get £0.
-
• #675
I asked if I could list and insure seperately, i.e. keep the SRM off there as that has a replacement value of £2,300, but they said no, that has to be listed.
Any deviation from what you tell them gives them the opportunity to refuse the payout.
