    ↑This
I've been complemented by marshals on the effectiveness of the hi-viz, and it's essentially no penalty (less than ½oz. total weight for both sides front and rear)

  • Better how?

  • One of the reviewers of the Vittoria Radiales said he had to keep checking whether his tyre had gone soft due to the abnormally plush ride. I assumed this was just the usual bike reviewer BS. Then I got to the turn roundabout tonight and got that squishy feeling as I tipped the bike over that usually means half your tyre pressure has gone. Sat up, went straight on at the roundabout, cruised back to the HQ. Checked tyre pressure, it was fine. FML.

On the plus side, I got to the turn at 26mph average off absolutely zero warm up (late home from work + small field + Wally starting 2 minutes early), so there's obviously nowt wrong with the tyres from a speed point of view, was on track for a long 23, which isn't stunning but good for me off a cold start.

  • More susceptible to p_nct_res?

  • Different carcass design.

  • More susceptible to p_nct_res?

It wasn't borked, it just felt like it was. The carcass and breaker are essentially the same as the Diamante Pro Light, so should perform similarly in that respect, i.e. it's a road race tyre, not a Schwalbe Marathon.

  • Yeah, I might give 'em a go. Not sure I'll get a set delivered before the 100 on Sunday though.

  • What are you using at the moment?

  • I've got the large Pro Optimum 25s fitted (24hr tyres) at the moment.
I think I've got some Diamante 23s and 20s in my stash as well as some of the high end Vittoria jobbies, the Open Corsa whatsits. Rubino Pros as well.

  • I'd leave the Michelins on there for this weekend, and switch to the Open Corsa for shorter races.

  • TriRig brake has arrived , won't be doing anything with it before the 50 on Sunday. In the post today was Rido R-Lt saddle, tried it this evening and it didn't seem to be an improvement on the previous SLR Flow, may need to tweak the position to get the benefit. Also X-Lab Sonic Wing, which isn't going to work without either customisation or a change of saddle position.

  • Was looking at the new Rido saddle, do keep us posted on how it is, last thing I want is to buy another saddle, and then return it after trying it out*.

*I do realised saddle are a very personal choice.

  • Yes I want to know too... comfort is always good when trying to hold a TT position for 112miles!

  • Customisation at this point means a load of electrical tape. Medium term plan is some blocks to fit a standard cage on the back of the Sonic Wing instead of the sides, longer term I might get Fibrelyte to knock something up in carbon to do the job, but for now I have somewhere to put my spare tube etc without taking up the space between the tribars, which is reserved for beverage in a 50. Keen students of this build will notice that I've also acquired a non-UCI seat post, so I can switch back to my old set up without disturbing either saddle. For now, I've moved the Rido about 5mm forward of where I had the SLR, there's scope to go about 75mm further by using the forward mounting hole on the seat post but I think there is a gap in the middle between saddle fully forward in the rear position and saddle fully back in the front position, so Sod's law says that's going to line up perfectly with the most comfortable/aero/power generating position :-)

  • why the rear light on the bottle instead of the seatpost clamp?

  • As well as, not instead of. Didn't seem like it would do any harm to have two.

  • Why not one bright light instead of two moderate one?

  • Two lights provides redundancy, in case of failure.

When both are working, two widely separated reference points make distance judgement easier for drivers.

Non-synchronous flashing may hold attention better than a continuous or single frequency flashing source.

I happened to have the Flea laying around, and I happened to temporarily have to use a strap to hold the bottle.

  • I'm pretty sure you could have done a better job on the aero styling of the tape...

I expected better from you Tester. Disappoint.

  • It's for one race, which I don't feel excited about. And I ran out of that roll of tape and cba to find the other roll.

  • Forecast for 9am Sunday at Kingston Bagpuss has changed in the last 24h from sunny to light showers, now feeling even less excited about racing.

  • As in the Kingston Bagpuize on the A420 west of Oxford? That's my local... :)

    Good luck!

  • T3s are still being used by Olympians, looks like the T4 still isn't ready

  • So is Look 464.
