People watch tv don't they?
So their plan would be to sponsor a national TV ad campaign? In that case Skully should really draw his friend's attention to campaigns that have been pulled or otherwise involved in legal wranglings because they were ignorant, misleading shite e.g., the niceway code.

I like the fact the petition organiser says that the plans will result in the "breakdown of the community", as if the loss of their cherished paveparking rights will make everything go a bit Mad Max in Netherley Road, Hinckley.
Of course the 'elderly' are shoehorned into things as well despite no relevance whatsoever as far as I can see

Interesting point you make about 'the elderly' who together with 'the young' are often cited a excuses for car dependence (and also used by some cycling 'advocates' as reasons why drivers and riders should never share roads)

They'll be discussing pavement parking in the house tomorrow

It's also pretty ridiculous that a central plank of the petition organisers' argument is that they absolutely need to use two cars because her partner works in Cadeby, which is an ideal 5 mile cycle commute away (saving fuel, other car running costs, depreciation, cardiovascular health etc)

I count 7. Cllr Steinberger at the centre of the picture.Disappointed about your use of 'closure', David. When the wall of buses still used the Narroway, it was a lot more closed than it is now.

1 journo and a passer by and 5 protesters. Agree Oliver closure wrong word.

I try not to engage with the campaigners who rely on personal attacks to promote their view. I don't always succeed.
Last week I was talking with Dutch student traffic engineers. They have done a project on Bow roundabout. None of them had heard of Hembrow. Not even the guy who lived in the same town. -

Not sure if this is right place.
A new cycle safety campaign is launched this evening in Northern Ireland, including this TV advert that will run up to and during the Giro d'Italia.

I'm shocked at how reasonable all that is.

Yeah me too, considering that a only a couple of years ago they were thinking about fines for not wearing a helmet. There seems to have been an injection of common-sense from local cycling campaigners to government policy.
I do think the cycling safety pdf is quite well thought out.
Cycling is popular here, cars are popular here, and there is a cross over. I hope that the spirit of this campaign takes hold.
Previous (graphic) road safety campaigns have had a positive effect. -

And London's famous nodders are anymore stylish?
Hopefully their chat with skydancer/Patrick will help them realised that they have the power to reduce fatalities, not the cyclists.
Perhaps some kind of sticker like* "this driver have been trained with Bikeability to ensure high standard of safety"* can be made standard.
