Just get this john and never have the same worry again. What I would have done if I didn't upgrade to Rotors.

You beat me to it.

John just buy a 104mm middleburn spider for a single ring or duo if you like. So you can used any chain ring problem solve

I'll send them an email, but need to sort out something new, quickly

Josh, what's the deal with the rotors?

Hit up these guys: http://www.wolftoothcomponents.com/collections/chainrings/products/direct-mount-for-middleburn-cranks
Brilliant reviews in the MTB and cyclocross world.

Good call Beagle, there is a store in Toronto that may stock that. Thanks

If you want some bling upgrade, Hope has finally released their cranks, about the same as Middleburns in term of weight with the only drawback being that it runs BSA30 BB and the price. Still pretty new to the market but the initial reviews seems pretty promising.

Yeah, I did take a look at Hope. I would love it. But in combination with a new BB and a chainring, I'd be looking at C$600.
I'm thinking probably Shimano Saint, and the Hope Chainring which comes in at a much more reasonable C$280, as I can keep my BB.
Assuming I can't replace the chainring easily in Toronto.

Spare change for you non? ;)

I wish. C$ has gone to shit compared to when I moved here.

Middleburns, look ugly and always break. Check here John http://www.pinkbike.com/buysell/list/?category=16®ion=3
find yourself some hollowtechs.

+1 I'm over middleburns. More hassle than they are worth. refitted then a few times to different bikes and the splines wore out. Crap. Shimano stuff just works.
-
• #916
Yeah, it's a shame, and I've been waiting for an excuse to replace them for a while now. But I can't complain about 4 years usage, including lots of bike polo, and transit.
Shimano Saint just got ordered.

I agree Shimano is quality stuff if you service your bike often and are okay with throwing stuff away occasionally (the comment about splines made me laugh; HT2 splines wear far quicker through the course of life and servicing than others, with the exception of FSA they rank as the worst. Not sure why gabes experience is different, but fatter shallower splines like on the middleburns usually last longer...).
As externals go, Shimano are probably the best truely mass-produced option; They're certainly great value for money.
I'd love a set of Hope but it's ridiculously priced and have no need. I'd maybe buy some out of vanity if they did a gold run, but they're not anytime soon apparently.

Can't believe you went for saints.
could have had these-

Ha! It would be cheaper getting Hope.

I think what really fucked my middleburns was running them on a frame with BB92 pressfit, which is the single shittest bit of bike tech i've come across so far. I destroyed 4 bbs in 12 months. To be fair, I ride a lot in shit conditions, but a hope ceramic or king bb will happily do 8-10k miles. BB92, maybe 800 miles then fair catastrophically.

In case any other lefties are interested in a cotic fork with the disc mount on the other side, got in touch with them and they sold me one that doesn't match their colours, so they sold it to me for a very reasonable price (Jimmy suggested it was probably close to their cost to build!).
I think they had a few, but you'll probably need to email them directly. -

Shit il still got it,, last week was about to ask you about louis !! Haha. Never mind
You could get an uno spider from middleburn that takes regular 104/110 chainring iirc
