I was guessing he was on some sort or square taper/isis/whatever as he has a BB length measurement.

If you follow the link Kev says it's a one peice crank, so can't move chainring. Can you get one peice track cranks? Isn't that the only way the chain ring is so far in?

Not 1 piece as in old BMX but 1 piece as in the crank arm and chainring are all stuck together? Get new cranks.

I should have copy and pasted the info from the link to the other thread. So here it is:
I have a bottom bracket of 119mm.
Rear hub is 135mm.
The cranks are an old cheapo all in one single piece, so cant move the chainring on to the outside of the spider or anything like that. The "line" is 9mm out. I need to push the chainset out more.
What size bottom bracket do I need to buy to straighten it up?
136mm seems enormous, also not sure if you can get them...
It's just a pub bike - the crank is some NOS thing I got a while back for a tenner. Not a one piece BMX crank. Square taper iso.
The freewheel is a BLB one.
It's not a cassette hub, there's no movement possible of the freewheel.
The hub is 135mm, the spacing for the hub is 135mm, everything on the frame is fine. The cranks needs to come 'out' another 9mm, I think the only way is a longer bottom bracket. It's a pub bike, I'm not buying new cranks for it.

Longest bottom bracket I can find is only 127mm.

You sure the crank is ISO? Could it be that you are running a JIS crank on ISO BB?
From Sheldon Brown:
Conversely, if you install a J.I.S. crank on an ISO spindle, it will wind up about 4.5 mm farther in than it would on a J.I.S spindle of the same length.

Fairly sure it was ISO. Will double check later on.

Suppose I could just get a JIS bottom bracket, which would help push it out a bit more. Are they easy / cheap to pick up?

I have a 170mm drive side crank with 44t chainring (no chainring bolts though) you can have for £5. You're welcome to try it for size before committing to buy.

For a fiver?? Sold. You still in New Cross? I think I'll be passing through there on Saturday.

Those were never really designed with a 135 rear in mind.

• #592
Yep, I have a shimano bb too (107 or 109 I think) that gave a good chainline for formula hubs, yours for another £5 if you need it.
I'll PM you my number

Ahh, it looks to me like you've kevron'd your chainline.....terminal I'm afraid!
It normally occurs when your bike is only used in a dry environment ! -

Your chevron fish are quite amusing though.
Ed, would you be interested in a trade for the crank - an authentic, genuine, classic, vintage harvey head? I'm down to my last dozen, I'd be willing to part with one of them.

I'll do it for x2 magic/Harvey balls
I don't get how that's possible, frame must be bent or something else weird? Is the hub straight? To have that gap your freewheel has to be right on the edge of the locknuts?
