  • because $1.50 is just outrageous http://www.paulcomp.com/brakeleverparts.html

but yes i think they are standard size for crosstop lever

  • The adjuster is pretty cheap on their site, shipping is expensive though, only other place I've found with them in in Germany and shipping is expensive too. I'll measure the threads and get a standard one and hope no-one notices the shame of them not matching.

For what it is yes, it is outrageous.

  • Does anyone find that they need to re-adjust their BB7 disc caliper on an almost game by game basis? I've rebuilt it, put another one from the spares box on, tried taping the adjuster barrels on the caliper, taken any slack out of the cable, using ferrules and a speed dial lever, and nothing stops the caliper loosening. Sometimes to the point where I have no brake and I crash. I'm front disc brake only, with guards, and frustrated/bruised!

If it's not simple, then I'm going hydraulic.

  • Mine did when I didn't have the adjuster knobs, just put some back on and am loving not tightening them before/during every game.

  • where did you find the spares Rob?

yeah, mine got knackered pretty quick and kept loosening.

so i went hydro. we'll see how long til something catastrophic happens

  • tartybikes, although I think my trouble finding them was a wrong search term, I'm now protecting the calipers, maybe your loosen as they get knocked, or does your guard cover the calliper?

  • Guard covers it and still it loosens. Happy to hear others have the same issues!

  • Mine seem fine now I've replaced my knobs. Is your knob loose? There is a little metal bit under the red plastic, maybe try pulling your knob off and compressing the metal underneath slightly then carefully placing your knob back in the slit.

  • fnar

  • You still got the inside adjuster on it?

  • a bit of tape to stop it moving seemed to work for me tom.

  • i'll try electrical tape, hockey tape doesn't work. i've lost the outside adjuster and i've come to realise that half a turn is enough to prevent the pads touching the disc.

  • oh yeh its the outside adjuster that i tape down admittedly with hockey tape.

  • Tape is a bit rubbish without the adjuster as the middle bit still spins, get a new knob, protect it with your life.

  • Maybe this already asked here but:
    ALU FORK-STEEL FRAME:
I need to find a new fork for my paddy wagon who allow me to put a disc on it. I saw a cheap aluminium fork on chainreaction.
Is this a bad idea because of the pressue the fork gonna impact on steel frame or not?

  • I think it will be fine

  • As with any component, install it correclty, maintain it well, and chuck it if any cracks appear.

  • Some says that Alu is too rigid for steel, is that bullshit?

  • Short answer, yes.

Long answer, aluminium forks have gained a reputation for being stiffer than steel forks, and therefore giving a "harsh" ride. As with any such objective description, it depends on many variables, such as the fork shape, material(s) used, tubing diameter/thickness/butting, rider preferences and your horoscope.
I can't really see a stiff fork being much of an issue for polo.

  • I'm a fan of a nice stiff fork.

  • I run alu fork on steel frame.
My alu fork with disc brake weighs a few grams less than my old steel fork with v's...

  • Where's aufbruch? Crumple-zone wisdom needed here.
