Sumo and I spend less than £20 on food fortnightly. This is because we're too lazy to cook real food and are happy to live on peanut butter on toast and lmnh leftovers, with the occasional stir fry or pasta bake, but I'm subscribing to this thread in the hope of maybe one day being bothered enough to cook something nice that's also cheap. Although this will only happen if all the other housemates don't invade the kitchen all evening, use up all the cutlery then leave all their dirty pots and pans strewn everywhere. (not likely, so will probably continue to be an anti-social recluse, only venturing down after 10pm)

I was merely being fruitée... ;]
I've heard rumours about you been bit fruity, mate!
I am enjoying Luci's refusal to spell 'fruity' any other way than how it damn well bloody should me; none of this fancy continental rubbish. Real bacon and eggs approach to spelling, that.

Wickerwork for everyone!
It's a top way to get out of Christmas shopping, Alex.
I heard that when they start privatising these health facilities they'll have you all stitching Gucci wallets and making t-shirts for Primark! I'll post my measurements!

Work as a chef. Have a box of cereal in a cupboard and some milk in my fridge and that's it for the week. Even on my day off there's enough food left over from the day at work not to need to buy anything. Apart from Liquorice Allsorts. Gotta have me some Liquorice Allsorts. And beer...

When I was a chef I was so broke (after spending all my wages on raves) that the only thing I had in my cupboard was plain flour left there by the landlord and some old spices and herbs on a dusty pine rack from ca. 1978.
I'd eat my dinners at work, but as for night snacks I'd master the art of making all sort of dumplings and soups made of butter and mixed herbs. This is why my belly is mashed up now. This and drugs. -

It was all about flour - dumplings, pancakes, tortillas... with paprika and cumin. And soups made on a slice of salami with veg smuggled out of my workplace..

But seriously, I spent 1.5 hrs burnishing a pot in pottery yesterday (ie rubbing it with the back of a spoon) to get it perfectly smooth. Might have to pay some child/slave/fellow patient to finish these sodding gifts off.

Lori's put a blog up of some of the stuff we eat, it's a bit old now (coupla years) but there are some great recipes there... She's gone to bed now (I can't find the fucking link) but I'll post it up tomorrow...
