God, I must be getting soft, because this little snap almost brought a tear to the eye!
Fantastic stuff! -

I'm loving this one.
"I'm just going to smoke this, then I'm gong to ravish you whether you wish me to or not."

Yeah, that's what I love about it! And the little fella was very polite, too.
I heard that after the run, villa-ru went round Belgravia knocking on doors, offering to clean their chimneys. That's why he's grinning like that. He's thinking 'the boy is a gold mine, now get up that chimney before I thrash you!'

Isn't this Tweed Run thing a bit 'over' now?
When you start gettin 'celebrities' goin and it's all over the 'style' blogs isn't it time to just quit while you're a head, keep a bit of integrity and quit while it was good kind of thing
I've always thought it was a bit 'Battle Re-anactment' but it seems a bit wankier now?

...the very fact Ralph Lauren's jumped on it suggests to me that it's sold out but fair enough, gotta chase the $$$ in this day & age
-
• #160
Did you actually just say "the tweed run sold out"
hipster thread >>>>>>>>

Nah.
The fashion types and celebs are in the minority. Most people there are having a laugh, getting a bit pissed and dressing in a shambolic mixture of second hand clothing.
I didn't get into the Tweed Run to be part of a movement that can be 'in' or 'over' - I did it because it's funny, I like dressing like a dopper and because a lot of people get to ride ten miles around London in relative safety. Oh, and to drink very expensive booze on someone else's account. -

It was particularly lovely that those not officially signed up to marshal dived right in where they saw a need. Big up to unharmed, General Lucifer, villa-ru (+ utterly adorable ru junior) and any others on here who did that.
Happy to help!
All marshals should block with a kid on the back - absolutely no grief at all, cars just sat quietly waiting.

Who took the pic ^^^ - bicycle images one?
Anyone on here?

Ha! I saw you doing that and though the same thing. Very docile line of drivers behind you.

I was thinking it was genius when I saw you block a road like that, no hassle guaranteed

You've got the wrong end of the stick. Social rides are supposed to be big, attention-seeking things, especially ones as absurd as the Tweed Run.
They're at their most tragic when they take themselves too seriously, and it's just 15 grown men riding around on bikes with no gears or brakes.
Like the Football Stadium ride.

Just out of Trafalgar square I saw someone perform a slow speed face plant as his bike stopped suddenly and he toppled over the front
Hope he's ok

I'm gettin sponsorship next year and it's gonna be featured on Football Focus and Soccer AM. Helen Chamberlyne, Gabriel Clark and Colin Murray are all participating!

Had a wonderful time once again.
A great ride, if a little chilly...brrr
Was nearly taken out a couple of times by Erin O'Connor and some of the other models - which was slightly surreal... Maybe someone should offer them some cycletrainingBig thanks to Corny for picking up our packs :)
