  • My recent ParcelForce order from Lordgun didn't incur any additional taxes or fees. (About 10 days ago)

  • That video is mostly of your hands. Does it make whirry noises on each shift? If you push the derailleur cage sideways to where it should be does that help?

  • I'd watched that one before in my research.

In the interest of pedantry, he uses the wrong b-gap tool.
When the updated white tool doesn't fit, he uses the red one thats for mechanical Eagle only.
He should have used the purple Eagle AXS tool. The AXS cages are 10mm sorter than mechanical Eagle cages and so the tool is different.

  • Ah, I chose FedEx as it was much, much faster in the “how long will this take” estimation.

  • Hah, well at least he sounds confident!

I ordered some Kogel pulleys, not sure if I will use them but they’re going to make it all much more interesting if I do I suspect.

  • yeah my girlfriend filmed it and she's a bit useless... yes i can push it all the way up so not a limit screw issue. it does whizz a bit like its trying but very quietly and sounds like its struggling

  • Looks like a warranty to me.

Normally when you shift up without spinning the cranks (and thus the chain not actually going up gears) your derailleur stops after 3 shifts since it feels the extra resistance of your chain still being 3 gears back. Looks like exactly the same is happening here, your derailleur somehow gets more resistance than it expects.

So I guess, send it back :)

  • If you can push it sideways by hand either the crash protection is disengaged or the internal gear train is borked.

If you look at the photo here (ignore the text), the silver disk on the motor should spin regardless of crash protection and the silver tooth just below “Japan” should be engaged in the slot that’s 180 degrees away in that pic.

  • just re-installed on the firmware and no luck. still fucked. so annoying

  • struggling to understand what you mean - which is the tooth? appreciate your help!

  • this is strange, never came across this, certain its not in crash mode?

  • The round notched piece

  • Crash mode doesn't change any gears. This seems to be changing some.

    Is the derailler hanger straight?

Is the RD installed so that the B-screw is correctly on the little hanger tab?

  • Yeah, it's shadow cage - check that the little B-screw shizzle is on the correct location of the tab and you haven't got the linkage piece of the RD in the wrong place. Basically undo the rear der and bolt it back on again properly.

Take a pic of the hanger and RD if you need 'splaining

Similar thing happened to me right before the start of TCR7

  • What happens if you take the chain off, then unbolt the rear mech and shift it up and down when it's free of any restriction?

  • Did you order the 14t/14t kogel pulleys?

Which variant did you order? I notice there's a drop down menu to choose a sram or shimano version.

  • I did, and I ordered the SRAM versions after a couple of conversations with Kogel - they assure me that they will work as one of their employees runs an AXTR setup with them.

I'm somewhat cautious, especially as it doesn't seem that you have had any issues with the stock pulleys.

  • I really don't understand what the chap in the comments is talking about.
I don't see the chain binding on the sram pulleys at all.

Will see how it feels after a proper ride.
I have 12 speed shimano pulleys I could canabalise from another mech if I do find any issue. But if its not happening now I'm not sure it will.

  • Can't deny I like the shiny kogel though...

  • I suspect finding the correct b-screw tension/position is going to be, erm, challenging with the Kogel pulleys fitted, plus they seem to indicate you need a longer chain - but don't then say by how much.

I'd prefer to have it running with the stock pulleys, if possible, and it sounds like it is.

  • Assuming @hippy isn't right and it's all correctly installed you should go to a shop and plug it with the thingy that can check parts individually instead of the charger. Do a test, update and go from there. Warranty most probably but availability may take long

  • The orange bit is the tooth and it's spring loaded against the disc. In normal operation it's in the green slot.

When you press the crash mode recovery button it spins the disc until the slot picks up the tooth.

  • The thing is changing some gears so it can't be in crash mode.

  • There's sometimes enough friction between the two parts for symptoms similar to what's described.

Anyway, we're mostly looking to properly rule it out before sending it back.

  • Other thing you can do is disengage the chain take the derailleur out of the hanger (or the wheel) and see if now it goes through all the range
