  • ^ did not know that

Yea HY/RD looks good. Almost regret getting V Twin. I have no idea how V twin will look/work with the Di2 junction box, tempted to get the barfly garmin mount with integrated junction box mount .. challenge is not too make the front end too bulky looking ..

  • Mount the junction box in the V of the V-twin.

  • Initial reaction is yes, but a) I'd want to know what harness (that may be in there and I missed it) and b) new Ultegra Di2 is coming, with 11 speed, so you may not want to do what I did and buy a soon-to-be obsolete group.

That said my totally obsolete DA Di2 is awesome, so I don't care.

  • Not fussed about 11 speed but good question re: the harness.

I gave them a call but they don't have anyone useful on the phone...

  • I think you'll see a fair amount of Ultegra DI2 kit being sold cheaply over the next couple of months as retailers clear out stock in advance of the 11 speed version being released.

If you're not in a hurry then it might be worth waiting for bigger discounts (which may not come of course).

  • Good point but i'd love to have it up and running for the DD this weekend ;)

Might have accidentally ordered it via another retailer for next day delivery. Oops.

  • Nothing like road testing new kit on a long distance, middle of the night, one way trip...

    ;)

  • Should be fine.

    1. Build it Saturday morning.
    2. Ride 500m to make sure nothing falls off
    3. Sleep all afternoon
    4. Ride 120 miles on it
  • Exactly. Piece of piss.

    What could possibly go wrong?

  • I giant eagle could swoop down during the night and steal the battery from its cradle, leaving me helpless, and alone, in the dark.

Maybe I should stay at home...

I had a similar plan but now its fucked :(
    Last hope is Tom Donhou.
    Fuck you chainstay clearance!

  • chainstay not dimple?

  • ^ what do you mean? I just got a call from TFG saying that the cranks/chain ring are rubbing the stay and they've sent the frame to Tom to have a look if he can do something like dimple/pinch .. I just want to ride the bike goddamit!!
Wish matt/talbot had started his venture in Jan :(((((

  • Then the chainstay was not dimple, just need to get it bend in shape with a block of wood by a framebuilder and it's sorted.

    example:

Perfectly normal, having said that I don't even have any chainstay dimple on my Oak as well which would be required if I have a bigger chainset like a 50/34.

  • ok, can that be added by a frame builder?

Edit: ok so there is hope thats good to know :) And that wont affect the integrity of the frame? I am at a point where I dont care about aesthetics i.e. paint being chipped/gone.

  • It won't, the majority of frame actually have a dimple, I would says it's rare for it to not have one.

    e.g. like this All City;

  • thats good to know ed and you are reppd

  • So... Di2 is completely amazing.

It took me about 4 hours on Saturday to fit it. Mainly because the external cable set I ordered with mine did not come with any of the wire covers to stick to the tubes (fucking Ribble).

Other than an outer limit tweak of half a turn at the first pub stop, it didn't skip a beat for the entire DD. It even saved me from a potentially nasty chain drop when I hit a huge pothole.

    I love it.

  • So... Di2 is completely amazing.

    So much this!

Dont know why I bothered with cables in the past, internal Di2 is such a peace of mind. The bike rides in total silence.

    NO CHAIN RUB!

fuck cables go hydraulic and electronic.

  • What are you talking about? no chain rubs? how did the Di2 prevent that?

Unless you haven't realised that you can trim your front derailleur with the Shimano shifter?

  • i meant the auto trim feature

  • Are you saying you can't manually trim the front derailleur on the mechanical shifter?

  • But Ed, that's SO much EFFORT.
