What’s the headset?
-
• #3978
@Amey Since it is a new built, I don't know what length of stem I need so I used what I had in the parts box.
@mattyc What you see is the Lynskey alloy headset cup inserts which are built in the headtube.
The headset is a titanium integrated tapered headset from Aliexpress. Titanium bits only include crown race, bearing cover and top cap. -

Looks tidy!

New to this Di2 malarkey. Slung this together tonight.
Battery came fully charged (eBay)- how long can I realistically avoid having to buy a charger for?
I'm planning to run a 'flappy paddle' style system using the large buttons on left for down right for up and the smaller buttons to cycle through my Garmin. Because why not. Well, because it might not be possible I guess. Best get Googling!

3000k at the most.

Grand, thanks. I wish I could fit that in... might be good for 2 years!

Or a week if you're doing TABR.

Anyone had their 6870 front derailleur snap on them? This must’ve happened while riding last night. Had no idea though, I thought my battery had just died so front shifting wasn’t working. But alas. Broken. I think? I can't find any great photos that demonstrate what this part should look like. Anyone have one they can take a photo of?
Also, I can just replace this with an 8050, right?

Yes.

Eurgh. Annoying unexpected bike expenses are the worst. Tbf, this bike hasn't cost me a penny outside of tires in three years since it's initial build so it's not so bad.

The dangly part should be horizontal and point inwards towards the hinge with the big spring on it. You can see the clean face from the other half of the break behind the moving part in your video.
Bad luck.
-
• #3988
Ah, yes, makes sense as to why I don't see the dangly part in anyone else's photos!
Not bad, to be honest... Considering I've done two long distance moves with it, probably didn't pack it very well and have subjected it to much neglect during two harsh New York winters, I'm okay with it!

Good effort. I've not broken an FD like that yet. Guessing it suffered an impact at some point.
-
• #3990
Yeah, very possibly. It did just get moved from NY to LA in a van... I did ride a couple of times . I'm seriously lacking in wattage right now, so it definitely wasn't my effort alone! I read about a few other people who had this issue, but not many. Not a replaceable part, either.

Wore out tyres but not a chain?
-
• #3992
Oops, tyres and cassette too. Just meant none of the core components of the bike have been problematic.

That dangly arm is giving me Alien chestburst vibes.

Does anyone have any spare frame bungs to cover internal cabling holes? I lost one from my Genesis Datum on a cross ride yesterday so now I've got a nice hole in my head tube - not great considering the crap conditions this bike normally sees.
I'm aware I can order a bag of them online (SJS sell a bag of 10 from Problem Solvers) but I only need one so thought I'd try my luck here first.

Entire Di2 packed in this evening while on the turbo. A couple of weeks ago, all shifting stopped, no lights on the junction box, and it wouldn't charge. No yellow charge light on charger either. I swapped some cables around as one didn't feel like it was clicking in properly, and boom, started working again and charging
This evening, nothing. Can't get it to charge, have swapped cables again, but it's totally dead. I'm assuming the charger is working as it charged everything up last time, and the system died while in use
Dead battery? It's easily 4 years old

Best way to test is to plug into the computer with the charger and see if you have any errors.
If nothing, it might be the battery is dead in which case you'll need the PCE-1 to confirm.

Sadly can't do the computer stuff, I'm on Mac and my Parallels software doesn't work any more as the last update killed some USB driver stuff
-

I used to be in that situation too. It’s frustrating there isn’t Mac software. Luckily I got given a windows work laptop.
Sounds like a job for a LBS. Should be about £20 for diagnostics.

Gonna be a long wait for a LBS to be open...

Ah. Here a few of them are still opens for repairs. Bike shops are on the list of essential services.
As seen on my Scalpel- very fashionable right now.
