Di2? Huh, Mavic Mektronic FTW!

This looks interesting;
I'm not quite sure what it's saying the benefit of hydro-gears is. The article seems to be saying they'll be a bit better than cables, but not as good as electric. Are they not just going to end up being redundant like the Magura rim brakes?
-

Lets see what they actually come up with first. Are Magura rim brakes still popular with trials riders?
This was the article I read about it..

Aha.

Keeping the weight down by missing out the front mech.
It's £972.42 with the front mech, so still cheaper than the eBay auction.
I cannot justify this, just looking around really.

There's probably cheaper places than Wiggle too.

£1k for a Di2 groupset? I was expecting them to be at least £1.5k. I'd love to do the upgrade if I was racing.
-

It's Ultegra. Much cheaper than original DA Di2.
-
• #41
Oh, and I just realised it's not a full groupset. I was thinking to myself "DA is about £1k so how is this £1k, prices much have changed since the last time I was looking"
Even as Ultegra I'd buy it. But then if I was saving up for a proper race bike then I'd wait another month to save enough for DA. Very interesting.

I'm tempted to put it on the S-Works for shits and giggles and the TT bike to get rid of the annoying cables and levers. But the TT bike is for 24hr TTs so repairability should something fail or I crash is more important to me than removing some cables and barcons.
Maybe if I moved back to Australia where bikes don't die in a year.. -

How long is the battery life?
-
• #44
Guy above says 6 months.

If you buy it can I test ride it?
-
• #47
If you give me money, I'll buy it then you can test it.
-
• #48
I'll spend the money on beer and wait until someone else buys it.

If I had money I'd only spend it

I had a little spin on the Ultegra electronic test bike at work last week. I am a convert - Very smooth. Not a huge a fan of the response from the button's though - Needs more of a positive feel.
Record on par with Di2 and Super Record "more". :)
