I saw you all setting off from High Beech, when I was arriving for my end of ride tea 'n' cake at High Beach.
Glad you all had a great day!
i love that a couple of people spotted us. if that was the end of your ride, it must have been fog throughout for you!
Thanks for yesterday's ride. I found it very fun and exciting! I sadly had a crash with my bike on my way home from King's Cross, but when I've got a new build, I'll be down for future rides!
oh no! bike's ruined is it? good luck with the new build and any healing you need. good talking to you

Nice to see a few of you at the tea stop at High Beach heading out on you ride whilst we (CCH) were heading home...man it was cold and that fog was weird. Hope you all got home safe!
Is that you, Dave?

I think once the first puncture occurred it started a trend... lol

I had a smashing time, good foggy fun. Thanks peeps for the efforts in getting it all organised so the rest of us can just turn up and go.
Doutzki, sorry to hear about your bike mate, you two seemed very close. Glad you're in one piece!

Doutzki what happened?
-
• #362
majority? just how many crashes you had?
Six in total this year. Only one of them was in an urban area and involved a vehicle. One was a bunch wheel clipping (not me). The rest were either as a result of lack of concentration when exhausted at the end of a fast ride or gravel/pothole cornering. I'm getting safer thankfully.
pity you missed it dan. laner's crash...well at least he failed at bunnyhopping. you failed at proceeding.
Touché. We'll never work out what happened. I was descending in a straight line, the road was smooth...next thing I know I'm pretending to be superman.
EDIT: All but one crash was on my road bike. There is something to be said for the Pinarello FP2 frame being way to race oriented for me when I first bought it. It is twitchy as hell and I think it took me a few months to get used to controlling it accurately.

Doutzki what happened?
I was riding down Pentonville road, and the car infront of me stopped abruptly. I just rode full speed into him before I could react.
This is my bike now:

Ouch indeed. I take it you weren't hurt, only your bike?
-
• #366
ouch.
+2. Hope you are OK, and thanks for your support with the tail enders towards the end of the ride, much appreciated by all concerned.
(Also good to see how you spell your forum name, I was thinking more like Dude-ski, as in the Big Lebowski...)

I have a small scratch on my shoulder, but that's all. I was extremely lucky. Might still go to a GP, just in case.
-
• #368
Anything apart from the frame damaged? I'm sure someone will have spare parts to get you back on the road.
-
• #369
too bad man, I didnt tell you that but in my opinion that was one of the best looking rides on the trip.
got a quill stem, steel drops and a front wheel, if you fancy.. cant help with a frame tho. -

So, for what it's worth, here are the stats
[ame]http://connect.garmin.com/activity/130377425[/ame]
Some pretty good cycling - I reckon the chaingang was around mile 54.
But mostly some good sitting around waiting for cheesy chips, and expert standing around watching people fix punctures. Next time there's a mandatory tyre check (not led by Bernie, for fear of sabotage) and I'll be at the bar to enforce the 'pint and a packet of peanuts' rule. I'm not saying my refuelling strategy worked for me ... but it was quick.
Couldn't have picked a nicer group to steal chips off / stand round with, though.
