Pancake flat.

A mere 20 miles from my place. Considering it's a 10 mile ride to paddington I think I will ride out.

Joint ride out?

^ Up for that. We wouldn't coincide for quite a while though, unless you fancied heading SW first.

^ Will look in a bit more detail at the route.

Tempted by the ride out - haven't run the numbers on how early that'd mean leaving though.
Anyone riding to Iver will have my admiration, but the station is far from easy to find, and there will be more than enough "challenges" on the ride to Oxford, to keep the masochists happy.
Perhaps haul a few extra tubes and a spare tyre if you are feeling super fit?
I hope that this does not sound overly controlling, but we will be leaving Iver at 9:30 PROMPT as otherwise all the Oxford burning torches will have gone out, and the pitchfork welcoming committee will have wandered off to the fireworks.

It's flat as far as Iver at least! 18 mile roll from my place cf 10.5 miles to paddington station so I may as well.
Have got the station locked in on google maps so should find it ok.
Let's just hope the weather forecast isn't accurate....

What's wrong with glorious Autumnal sunshine with light gusts of wind, rustling the leaves on the forest trails?

AlGood man Al. Give my best regards to the delightful ladies of the forum. The Epping Forest ride was as nice a ride, as anyone could ask for. Don't forget the camera and jelly babies, and a few sachets of mayo (the girls will explain...)

I'm a little closer to town that upstart, so will let the train take the strain I think. Particularly in light of the forecast.
Does anyone know if they make waders with cleat fittings?

Bernie,
I live out Oxford way and wouldn't mind joining the ride through the Chilterns. Any chance of arranging to meet up in the Henley area? I'm happy to help out with suggestions for smaller picturesque roads through the hills too ...

What an awesome day out in the lanes. Huge thanks to Bernie for organising and marshalling the brigade. Those roads were new territory for me, but hope to discover more round there in future.
And a beer festival laid on at the other end! Why isn't every ride like that?
From se18 its 30 miles, so guessing I'd be leaving at 7am. Which isn't terrible, but could see myself failing and getting the train.
