he's the guy that had a temper tantrum last year? don't know why these people take it so srsly
-
• #1778
I've not been paying attention: what record is he going for?
-
• #1779
Lejog.
@wheels_of_fire 's window attempt is first, so he should be first to go. Ian's window is just at the end of his so will be 2nd.

LEJOG and the 1000mi
@wheels_of_fire is down for 24hr, LEJOG and 1000mi

Cool. I did know that but forgot.
Whoever gets the best weather has the best chance! But Gethin had great weather (and is/was a great rider) so it's a tough record. -

I have a vague feeling there's a time gap required between two attempts using the same roads so yeah if Broady gets the best wind slot then Ian will need to wait it out (I'm thinking 24hr but I might just be confusing two close attempts and it's not actual the rule and I cna't be arsed reading it all again).
Mike and I both have faster 24hrs than Gethin but Gethin is like 65kg versus my 90 and whatever Mike is (70-75?) so there's that. Less weight = less energy and that counts when your digestive system is struggling against the effort you're making.

I believe they're taking different routes. Ian has kept his private.
-
• #1785
It can't be that private as it has to be sent to the RRA.
-
• #1786
What advantage would it be for him to keep it private if he’s going second?
-
• #1788
Well MB could use parts he thinks are better for his route...
-
• #1789
Yes.
-
• #1790
So why has MB published his route if he’s going first? ;)
-
• #1791
The route isn't going to be a deciding factor.
-
• #1792
Because there's probebrly only 1 real route.
There's no point keeping it private really. MB knows a lot of other people and they will have no doubt given him their routes, especially Jasmijn and others.
Time trialling is a good community, and people want to see the records broken. I doubt anyone would not share their route with another community member, or go out of their way to help.

think MB is low 80s.
-
• #1794
I think that's actually a Velocite. Never heard of the brand before I saw his bike at the hotel in Meteora last year, it was similar but black. I think he's sponsored by them.
-
• #1795
Yeah, that's what his Insta says. Looks like a 3T to me.
-
• #1796
Oh yeah, now that I look again, it doesn't have the dropped drive-side chainstay to fit the wide tyre stuff.
-
• #1797
Fatty!
-
• #1798
82kg
It isn't a two week window, I can wait as long as I like... although I am keeping a support crew waiting.
Not sure why Ian is keeping his route private, I wanted people to know about it so they can come out and cheer and feel part of the event. Really looking forward to it now.

Quite happy for him to use my route if he wants :)
Interesting choice of bike. That's the fat tyre 3T thing yeah, the one I was actually looking at a while back Enduro? Looks like he picked a size (or two) too small.
