  • Oh yes please! My last Cambridge ride was a total disaster so I'm looking forward to try again!
Also I believe that towards the end of this month we should be able to cycle in a daylight till around 5.30-6ish! Let's hope it will get warmer too...

  • I liked the last Cambridge one. A++ ride, would cycle again

  • Yeah to evening riding but if we do it in the morning I save a train fare! Also, if anyone thinks of organising the Cambridge ride when I can't do I will cry.
    A lot.
You have no idea how much I can cry.

  • I didn't make a snowman...I've spent the whole day in pj's, sleeping, eating and watching DVD's.

    Ditto!

it's mostly a well-travelled forum route but I did the cues for someone to follow without GPS :)

also, there is now a car-free route from the DNA path to Cambridge station which isn't on there (as discovered on the last ride).

    A lot.

    This

  • Becky and Kat- v simple solution, you two organise the ride!
The route is there, if you don't wanna lead on the day I'm sure someone will step up (I will if I can make it) so all you need to do is pick a date, set a time and start a list!
I love riding to Cambridge. I did it with boys in the autumn and we did a 17.4mph average rolling speed! Was quite a shock when we looked at the data.

You see the little lake to the left of Cambridge - that's where I grew up! ...thought you'd all like to know.

    This!

You grew up in a lake? o_O Amphibious baby!

Grapham Water? my sister used to go there for something music-related, I forget what.

another note about the route - you might want to ditch the Chingford detour and the Epping Forest (off-road) section, they're both just to overcome the tedium of Epping New Rd! the other option - depending on numbers and how off-road you're feeling, is to take the towpath up the Lee Valley (I've only done it to Broxbourne but I assume you can get from there to Stanstead Abbots) but it is slow going and best done early to avoid the little childers. or get the train as far as an oystercard will take you and start from there.

  • I've taken the tow path all the way to Stanstead Abbotts the last time I went to Cambridge and it adds a LOT of time. We only made it to Cambridge by 7pm, leaving south London at 10am! Fortunately it was in summer so light til 9pm.

That said, the tow path s lovely and I imagine it won't be too busy this time of year. however it may be chock-a-block as soon as it gets a bit warmer as everyone realizes they can go outside again ! :-)

  • Hahah, as if I could organise my way out of a paper bag!
Can I request a doodle thing though? However that works...

  • Fill in the poll ladies:

I have added dates for the next few weeks, these can be changed if needed.

Becky if we are leading this ride I think we should have a chat and do a bit of a research so we won't end up in the final destination late at night.

  • Done.

The 18th of March clashes with KT-Bee's Subterranean London ride, for anybody who's already on that one

  • Doodle edited, 18th taken out.

  • Done!

  • Done!

Are you sure? Can't see you there.

  • Hmmmm....lets try again!

  • Done! Again...;-)

  • Done! Again...;-)

    That's better.

  • So 10th/31st March are looking likely so far :D

Thank you for the doodle! (And all the joy it's bringing)

  • Done.

  • I am far too unreliable for any kind of list, including of the doodle based variety, but I'm in if I'm not doing anything stupid like moving house that weekend.

  • ^me too! Plus track should be open again by then so don't wanna commit until I know the timetable. (Def can't do 10th)

  • April 1st clashes with The London Classic for anyone (bothwell) doing that... :-)
