  • Come! the best way to get fitter is to ride more! Ladies rides are well paced and stop happy so don't be worrying about fitness

Ok well in that case as long as I'm free I'm in!

  • Sweet! Thanks Kevin! Does forty (ish), mostly flat miles sound about right to you?

All those rides tend to blur into one another with me, but I think it was flat. The way we went was quieter but less direct so it may have been longer than 40 miles. She'll remember it better, and she probably has the points saved somewhere online, I cant do any of that stuff.

  • I went on this ride to southend earlier in the year -- http://www.lfgss.com/thread79717-3.html
the route is just under 60 miles and fairly flat

  • Ace. Thanks blowfish! that was the very route I was looking for - would rather do 60 scenic miles than 40 busy road ones.

  • Oh what? In that case I'm out!
    (only kidding)

In! Never quite made it on one of these, but always wanted to, and need to get the miles in post-xmas.

  • Hurrah! Will be lovely to have you along lady! Seems odd that you've never been on a ladies ride!

    Looking forward to it!

I'm doing this exact route this weekend, so can come along and vaaaaguely help lead the way if I remember it!

  • That would be amazing, thanks!

  • Sorry I haven't been on the forum much lately.... but the good news is I found the cue sheet and Katie-Coo and I rode it again in June, so I've done the route twice...
Hopefully this weekend I will have time to type it out for you. Right now it's just in my own chicken scratches.
My route starts from South London, so getting out of London is different, but the end part looks roughly the same. You can choose to go either way around the Hanningfield resevoir, depending if you want a more scenic or more apocalyptic type setting. :-)

  • Yes to Southend and frosty winter rides.

  • Awesome. Thanks Chris! And I'm totally on board with it starting in South London ;)

    Thanks!

  • As a resident of South London I would politely insist it starts from that area :-).

    Tonk you kindly.

Are people thinking fixed or geared?

  • I only have one bike that I normally ride fixed (flip-flop hub). I'm in East London So if we're leaving from deepest darkest south London I'm aslo going to need to plan a route to the start line.. gulp!

  • I'll be doing it fixed. Those with gears welcome but you'll need to keep with the fixed pack...And we can always sort out feeders/multiple start points once I get a chance to suss out a route.

  • Ace! It will be my first proper ride. I'm still up for Amsterdam at some point next year too.
