hoefla, I can't believe you haven't brushed your hair since May! Your hair is super long!!
Now I am feeling the pressure to do my hair for the cocktail ride... split ends and roots probably won't cut it.
-
• #1053
I have pretty epic split ends... it's long enough that every so often if I cut an inch or two off the end it's not really noticeable though.

Oops, I suggested a ride then disappeared. Southend or Maldon are fine by me. Can't do this weekend sorry - I'm in Budapest but free pretty much any weekend after that. I also can't really lead as I have a poor sense of direction and a really unreliable iPhone...

Shiiiiiiiiite, I wanna ride but this weekend definitely won't work.
Also: that is NOT FLAT. Somebody put that next to Brighton so I can have an understanding of what I'm thinking of getting myself into, please?
-
• #1057
this Saturday yep.
would love to do this but I seem to be developing a bad cold.. will have to see what happens tomorrow ..
-
• #1058
Well, if anyone can come tomorrow I'll be leaving from outside Tesco on Whitechapel Rd (E1 1DU) at 8am > coffee in Maldon > riding back.
RidewithGPS is refusing to let me search my routes so can't compare with Brighton but it's flatter. There aren't any hills. It's a bit bumpy heading out just before you get to the M25 but beyond that it's extremely flat.

I've just been reminded that my bike is locked in a shed in south London, so looks like I won't make it after all. Another weekend though. I like the sound of no hills.

If everyone's out I may go later because I'm drinking and slightly broken. Easy to do any other time if there's appetite though.
-
• #1061
i'd definitely be interested in joining these rides, and wouldn't mind if guys came along either!
-
• #1062
just a suggestion which I'll probably get shouted down for - the non ladies forum rides are seriously lacking in female participants (of the ones I've done this year I think 95% have had no other women on them) so if you're not fussed about men being there do consider doing some of those to redress the balance a bit.

Is anybody actually doing any rides, though? I haven't really seen that many of them that don't involve food / booze as the purpose with "riding your bike" as a vague afterthought. I missed YAL's ride to Cambridge due to other commitments which was disappointing. The only other rides I can really remember happening this year are the TNRC ones (definitely regular, but I can't do Tuesdays) and that bloody Hastings ride that I always want to do but that gets cancelled the day before every time it surfaces (coincidence?). I could just be totally missing stuff that gets posted, though.

I've been a bit shoddy on them second half of this year, but have done plenty posted in the Rides and Races forum (braker's century rides for example and John Mack's), plus there are TNRCs and rides posted in the last minute rides thread.
edit: OK you said TNRCs. But yes all the others. Understandable that there aren't so many in October.

Oh yeah - forgot about Braker's 100 club. Was going to do one of those but overslept and missed the start time :/ Actually, maybe that's what my problem is. Should replace my bed with something less comfortable.

Right. Ladies rides WILL be revived in 2013.
First one of the year*: SOUTHEND 12th or 13th of JANUARY
NB I have only the vaguest of ideas of how to get there but am happy to wing it in the leading if I don't get to recce the route first (and if people don't mind the risk of taking slightly wrong turns etc) If anyone more familar with the route wants to lead, be my guest.
*if it isn't shitting it down with snow or rain
List?

I'm in if it's the 12th!
-
• #1068
BECKY! YES! Long time no see! : )
The sat or sunday division was really in case there is engineering works on trains etc. Will check and update asap.

I'm in if it's the 12th too (on the 13th I will be at a health spa, not that I'm boasting or anything. Much).
I barely know where Southend is so there's no chance of me leading.

How many miles is the ride?

Fitness/availability dependent I will be up for this. It's about time I did a proper ride.

Come out of London and turn left, if you're coming from the South. I think.

About 40...? Will look up the route and let you know asap

Come! the best way to get fitter is to ride more! Ladies rides are well paced and stop happy so don't be worrying about fitness

I'll ask ms.chris to come on here later, she mapped it for us before.

• #1074
Sweet! Thanks Kevin! Does forty (ish), mostly flat miles sound about right to you?

I don't really know my left and right, so who knows where I'll end up with directions like that!!
@Hoafla God you made me laugh, low maintenance, you really mean it. In the comfort of your own home and a glass of wine if it helps we could decide on a haircut that really works for you. Short hair is great as long as it's low maintenance, i totally agree.
@Scoot. Where do you live? maybe i can help friday night? I'd bloody love to, sounds like a fun mission!!
