  • "Bizarrely, the buyer doesn’t leave empty-handed, because the scammer then actually sends them a much cheaper and nastier alternative handlebar bag – complete with tracking details and proof of delivery. "

What is the point of sending a piece of shit bag out? It's not what people ordered so why on earth would they settle for it and not demand a refund.

I think, if you receive goods with proof of postage your credit card company won't get involved, it's now a dispute between the buyer and retailer.

  • Interesting. I thought there were distance selling rules that would've covered this kind of thing.

  • None of these scams would work if not for the customers' greed, thinking they managed to snag something for nothing.

  • looks great! hopefully with the huge demand they can release a v1.5 at a lower cost and fix any teething issues. maybe put some tasteful reflective strips on it too... #brevet

  • Fork go boing. Save the money

  • Thanks.

Just having a dig on IG and a post on the saddle bag images (in French) from last week has a reply from Decathlon saying it's out in June. And another post saying they will appear online only. Still a way off.

  • The silver will actually look nice.

What’s happening why are you building a bike that WONT be ugly?

  • Dafuq did I post this in the bikepacking thread for? Driunkfsck

    EDIT: moved.

  • Oh thats good, have an empty solvents bottle thats very similar.

  • I currently have a 13l seatpack (Alpkit Koala) which is fine for things like cycling to a friends and staying overnight (pre-Covid).

If I now want to camp overnight as well with a one man tent, sleeping bag, roll, (artificial) down jacket etc what other bags should I be looking? I guess a bar bag for the bag/roll/jacket? What else? It's been a while since I've been camping.

I'll be staying on camp sites and other places with facilities once restrictions allow, mostly during late spring/summer/early autumn and I'll be on a road bike.

  • I think s75 chargeback under "goods not as described" would be the one, in the u.k.

  • It depends on what bike you have and how big your stuff is.
You could just strap the whole lot to the bars, or use a rack to hold the heavier stuff.
If you have MTB bars it's a lot easier to roll things up in a bar roll than if you have drops.

  • As Hippy said, the size/compressability of your gear is a big factor in this, but a frame bag that doesn't limit your water carrying capacity too much would be my first stop.

Back before I had a bike with all the mounts, and gear that crammed down really small, I always ended up with a backpack/messenger bag on top of my frame and seat pack. Tent crammed into the seatpack, sleeping bag at the wide end. Poles, inflatable mat and riding layers in the framebag. Backpack for change of clothes and any extras. With non-flared 42cm bars my options for a bar bag were rather limited so I just ran a burrito bag for bits and bobs.

  • Looking for a bit of advice from people who have had some experience with a variety of different bags - basically if you were to start from nothing today but knowing what you now know what kit would you buy?

I've got a half frame bag that used for thermals and food - mainly snacks and cake.

Considering getting a seatpack and handlebar roll to do some overnight trips - ideally a single night, make coffee then ride to a café for breakfast - then maybe a few longer trips if I enjoy it.

Is this a good seatpack? https://www.carradice.co.uk/bags/saddle-packs-sqr-bags/bikepacking-seatpack

What's a good handlebar roll? Not looking for the cheapest ever or the most expensive - just something that's good quality and will last more than a couple of trips. Happy with 2nd hand gear.

The fork has mounts for cages on each leg - what's a good option for a cage if I need more space?

  • I've used Restrap, Apidura and Revelate and I think on average Revelate are the best designed and use high quality materials. New they are more expensive than the one you linked but I think you could buy second hand for that price. As I think you are in Edinburgh, if you want to look at a Revelate harness, feedbag, top tube bag, older saddle bag, Restrap frame bag and Apidura expedition saddle bag then let me know

  • Thanks for the kind offer - I am Edinburgh based. Will have a look at the options you listed.

  • is there a sleeping bag thread? I forgot
