  • Restrap or any other tool roll will do the trick.

I’ve got a roadrunner from a few years back and was disappointed with the sewing - stitches connection the strap to the roll were loose when I received and just got worse. So would recommend any but that one.

  • I have a Roadrunner burrito bag that’s done 7ish years of solid service, the only repair that was needed was when the double sided Velcro broke at the stitch (rather than the stitching). Fixed and still usable.

Maybe since then they’ve been preoccupied with the EU version of their website, new market.......

  • I have two small neat ones in black that you could have each of for a few quid plus postage.
    PM me if interested!

  • I don’t know about any of their other bags but specifically in relation to the tool roll being discussed I would not recommend.

It’s also a shit size, can only just squeeze in a 23c tube, doesn’t fit my average sized multi tool, flap not long enough.

Had a look., I bought it in 2015.

  • Bored of sitting inside looking at the outside made me remember I had this frame sitting around plus various bits to put it together.

Short local shakedown ride through the woods, brakes are a little dodgy. Makes a change from the same road loops all the time which is nice!

  • Roadrunner burrito bag

I have a 2 year old one lost in the shed... no issues at all!

  • Whats the go to handlebar bag for smaller stuff? So not the harness + drybag option I see a lot. Like a top tube bag but also for some clothing for day rides?

  • Wizard Works Lil Presto / Straight Cut Design Bagel Bag / Miss Grape Moon are good options for day rides

  • There is also a Restrap one in the same vein, I forget the name

  • Thanks, time for some research!

  • Can highly recommend the Straight Cut gear. I think they're throwing in free beer with the bagel bags at the moment too!

  • 15% off Restrap with LFGSS15

  • Carradice bikepacking bar bag looks a good option at 3.5l.

  • Same quoted weight as the Wizard Works (250g) and only 95g more than the Miss Grape (and it looks bigger)?

  • I think the one from outer shell drawcord bag looks really good

  • Or the jammer from roadrunner

  • TBF it's a departure from Carradice's usual 'built like a tractor with weights to match' approach!

(As a beardy CTC rider it's an approach I share...)

  • I totally forgot they made the bike packing range.... ignore me! I have a nelson long flap and adore it, just wish it was made identically by ortlieb or porcelain rocket...

  • Aye, Carradice's cotton duck stuff is big on both durability and weight, but the bikepacking range is a bit lighter, and I've got a waxed cotton Lightweight Audax saddlebag from them that isn't super portly.

  • It took so long for me to get it into stock I totally forgot it and haven’t even had a look yet. I’ll go finger some bags when I’m back in the shop

  • I’ll go finger some bags

    Paging @snottyotter...

  • Any opinions about Planet X Podsacs fork cages & bags? Cage+bag costs less than most other cages alone, wondering about durability. Generally speaking for a long-haul trip (say a yearlong) would you consider alloy/steel cages or plastic ones (Salsa HD, Podsacs, Topeak for example) better?

  • Post up what you think please when you get back to the shop. That bar bag looks good to me and I also like the bike packing saddle bag. I had been considering getting one for some summer trips. The frame to hang the saddle bag on seems like a good idea to me.
