At this point Skive normally rattles out some sensible advice for the upcoming ride so I am going to try to do the same.
Firstly, the weather is looking really good for Saturday. It is not beyond the realms of possibility that the more palid amongst us should remember their suntan lotion. If the weather forecast changes then please bring appropriate clothes, I am not falling for any cunning tricks trying to get us to warm each other up by huddling in a group.
Riding like a dickhead will be tolerated as long as you don't upstage my riding dickheadishness.
Departure will be 8am from the junction of Sandgate Street and the Old Kent Road. Sandgate street is a quiet road with a good bit of pavement so we should not get in the way of anybody. PM me if you can't find it on the map.
There will be the occasional shop and water refil point on the way but please bring food and drink.
The ride pace will be steady and in no way swift. Not least of all because I've only recently come back from injury and getting my fitness back to where it should be. There are hills which likely will spread us out a bit especially as we have a mix of geared riders and fixed. I will do my best to contract us back into a group. Being in a group is in everybody's best interests.
I would be very appreciative if somebody else could study the route and/or bring their Garmin in the unlikely event that my Garmin 800 decides to throw a hissy fit.
Finally and most importantly, I'm really looking forward to this ride. Bring the funk.

In terms of trains back there are a number of options. There is the high speed service to St P which is over £30 and there is the slow (1h50) service to Victoria which costs about £19 if booked now.
Groupsave is possible on both services I would imagine.

On trains, don't book ahead unless it's stupid cheap, GS is best.

There is a distinct possibility that I am going to suffer on this ride...it has been a while since I have riden hills! I'm relying on you John to take over when I bonk off the back!
cheers si.
we should plan a late autumn spin somewhere.
not too far so fingers and toes don't have a chance to fall off from the cold.
