So If i make a circle of contacts.. is there anyway to stop all the contacts within the group; of seeing one another?
Doesn't seem like the restricted facebook experience promised..
and why does my profile show all my contacts.. again fuck off -
• #428
your contacts don't know the name(s) of the circle(s) you put them in, hence nor can they see other members.
re showing your contacts:
privacy -> edit network visibility -> customsise your fucking settings
jesus, how about taking a look before assuming google are to blame

I don't think that there are any APIs or other neat little back end tricks with the software Velocio uses for the forum to create an app...
The new style (which you can still turn on at the bottom of each page) does format slightly better on an iPhone but it's still not great.

Awww hangout is great. Me and my best friends from Cardiff can never organise ourselves to meet up in real life at the same time because we're scattered across the UK now, and though we have a group facebook thread which has been going for 4 years, tonight when we had our first collective real-time conversation in over a year and it brought a tear to my eye to see everyone's faces and be able to chatter away as if we're in the same room.

There's a London Fixed Gear and Single Speed "user" that was suggested to me to add, but it's just David's email. Not sure why it thinks there's 2 different people with the same email address.

Have you had lots of people that you never heard of?

Do you need a webcam for 'hangout'?
I've just been fucking about with circles. I don't read instructions so it might take me a while to find all the fun stuff. I don't think it's that much better that FB or Twitter but at the moment it's quite fun

I already prefer it to facebook because it doesn't have shitty "groups" or anything.

I think if it takes off properly it'll gain more features with time. I really do like the idea of circles though, I think in the long run it'll make me more likely to share things with people on g+ that I wouldn't do with facebook, seeing as I can target it people who actually give a shit quite easily
-

Yeah webcam and microphone.
I think it has the potential to be bigger and better than facebook because you can take interest just in the groups of people that you actually care about so it's less of a clusterfuck of people you don't really care about...but it will only be interesting if people are as active on it as they are on facebook with uploading photos and sharing links/videos and creating events
Interested to see how the '+1' thing pans out too. It would be great to have like a ffffound.com of all my interests in an automatically updating stream

^^ That might mean not selling a webcam that I've never used. I'll see if I ever get to that stage first.
I'm going to hang on to FB as the bike polo and local FG group are already set up on there.
Depending on how many people move onto there from the Twitter and the like I might end up removing myself from the others. I don't post that much on FB or twitter so it wouldn't make much of a difference to move.
All this competition from these big brands is a bit annoying. I liked youtube before google bought it. now they're jamming advertising in everywhere possible. FB used to be good then they increased all the shitty advertising and their sharing policies are shit. It actually quite hard to keep your own information private. I like twitter how you can be pretty anonymous on there. But the amount of spam on there is unreal. Microsoft trying to muscle into the picture with Bing is bullshit. Their search engine has always been shit and their maps have nothing on google
