I am looking for a decent roll arm sofa:
Something like this:There is one that looks ok on made.com : http://www.made.com/sofas-and-armchairs/orson-3-seater-sofa-biscuit-beige - Has anyone had any experience of made.com?

Not sofas but I have bought a number of other things from them and I am very pleased with all of it. The only thing that I would say is that it can take a while to arrive, so if you need it in a hurry it may be worth looking around first.

Thanks - will bear that in mind

I bought a sofa-bed from Made.com - generally pleased with it.
With regard to delivery, you need to read about the lead time and expected shipping dates. My understanding is that they don't have these things sitting in a warehouse ready to ship like Amazon but sart selling while the stock is in production. From memory, we had to wait about two months for our sofa.

Thanks - I am aware that they need to be made and will take several months to arrive, I was more concerned that the price was a bit low for a wooden framed sofa... not that I want to spend thousands.

Ref Made.com
We have a sofa from them, really delighted with it!! Cost £5/600.00 and looks like it cost 4 times that - super comfortable, super smart, durable etc.
Even my mother likes it and says its comfy.
A huge plus - I can lie down flat on it and I'm 6'3"
Get one, you won't regret it (I hope!!)

Can anyone recommend an upholsterer? I've got some Ercol dining chair and sofa cushions that need recovering and a rocking chair that needs new cushions altogether.
I did try googling for upholsterers who know what they're doing with Ercol but they all look like they've fabricated their testimonials.

Any ideas on sofas? Just trawled the usual suspects at one of those bleak out-of-town shopping places. Nothing stood out. Like the idea of made.com but you can't do the comfy bum test.
Thoughts?

Just visit their showroom http://www.made.com/showroom

Be warned, I bought a couple of pieces of furniture from made.com (an armchair, and a deskchair). They were exceedingly comfortable at first but after about a year got less and less comfortable before falling apart. I realise that it is cheap furniture but it wasn't THAT cheap.

Did you let Hippy sit on them?

Ikea sell furniture. I prefer a good armchair to a sofa.

dragging an old thread back - we have 2 beautiful naught one 'pinch' stools upholstered in tan leather. had them made before we moved house and would prefer chairs now
http://www.naughtone.com/portfolio-view/pinch
it's the pair at bottom middle, if you don't know much about this stool design it's incredible - award winning flexible design that allows you to sit upright or straddle or even use as a footstool, we love them but have another pair (upholstered) which we'll be hanging on to
these retail at around £500 each and are in immaculate condition, what do you think people would be willing to pay? happy to swap for other design classic chair pairs
we'd ideally have a pair of antelope chairs, wishbone chairs, thonet, artek etc etc so maybe looking to part exchange, anyone know any dealers who might be interested?
opinions / ideas appreciated

I work for a commercial furniture dealer in Clarkenwell and i have to say in my opinion not a great deal. Prehaps £50 each.
Try WantDontWant or eBay. These are domestic style pieces but have a hint of contract market about them which may/may not put people off.
Naughtone is great though +1 for a thoroughly nice bunch of guys.

yeah, pretty unknown brand outside of commercial, nice guys Indeed, my missus worked there for a few years- I've seen fabric ones go for 250+ on eBay but it's very rare to see them available and never as a pair
